Fender Bassman Neo 115 weight issue

I bought a Fender Bassman Neo 115 cab and it is, as the advertising states, 45lbs or under.
Then, as I liked the cab so much, I bought another identical cab. But. .. The new one weighed in at 6.5kg over 12lbs HEAVIER.
I took the cab back to my local store where I purchased it for them to contact Fender Aus, who in turn contacted Fender USA and their reply was that it falls WITHIN the boundaries of 'acceptable variables'!!!!
So. .. I'm stuck with a MUCH heavier 'identical' cab.

Anyone had this issue or have any views?
I'm wondering what I should do next.

12Lbs is probably the exact difference between a ceramic magnet and a Neo.

Sounds like an answer I would expect from FMI. I would suspect they went to a heavier cheaper material to build the box from?

You have confirmed they are the same driver? I could see 1-2 pounds, but 12 is kind of odd. You bought them, you can return them.

Yes. Driver is the exact same one as in my original cab. Neo Eminence 15''

Well I dunno. . They're saying that the difference is in the wood and out of their control and that I'm sick with it.
I dunno whether the local store would refund be. They're a 'mom n pop' local.

I don't know about consumer protection laws in Australia but in the U.S., telling customers they're buying a 45 pound cab that actually weighs 57 would be false advertising. Not only would you be entitled to a refund, but the business that lied would be subject to financial penalties.

The cab is new? In working order? Have a receipt? Then return it.

Does your original cab only weigh in at 33lbs? Maybe the second one isn’t too heavy, the first one is just extra light.

'FAULTY' one weighs 56.6

That is a pretty heavy 45lbs, 18% heavier. FENDER QUALITY CONTROL. Sorry just pisses me off and I didn't even pay for the cab. I wonder what 45lbs or under means in FMI edict?

Ditto on that count, can you get a look at the driver to determine if that's the case ...

Exact same driver and horn. I've looked inside as have the store

If you're set on using the two Neo 115's, I'd definitely return the heavy one and insist they the store either order you a replacement, or refund your money. 25% over the advertised weight is crazy.

If you paid by credit card, get your card company to reverse the charge and let the store haggle with Fender (give them back the cab, of course).

25% falls well outside any acceptable level of tolerance. Heck that would be a miss even in hand grenades.

I'm thinking I'll contact FMI Aus & explain my situation and that I'll not let it rest as I'm not happy with it being that much heavier as weight (or the lack of it )was one of the reasons I bought it. See how I go with that.
I'll also tell the store know the same..

Was it in Sydney, Rod? Whatever you decide, don't let it lie dormant, follow through to the end as FMI Aus are slack sobs. 25+% discrepancy is totally unacceptable, would anyone here be happy to order a jazz bass you were told was 10lbs to have a 13lbs behemoth show up on your doorstep, or buy a car with mileage quoted at 40mpg but actually getting around 30?? You also might want to remind 'mom n pop' that in this day & age of internet stores & GST free import limits up to $1000, they may well go the way of Billy Hydes, Allens & The Bass People stores, ie, belly up, especially with this kind of 'customer service'. Good luck with it mate.
