Fender Bassman Pro 300 (Fender 300t)

Well I just picked one up used in NYC for $700usd. I think I got a good deal.

I dont have a cab for it yet but I know it works (my buddy who found it for me played it through the seller's amp). I'm trying to figure out what year its from. On the fender website it says something about looking for a QA sticker :ninja:... but I dont see one of those anywhere.

Is there a way to date it by serial number? Assuming it functions perfectly which I believe it does, how good of a deal did I get? :hiding: hah.. thanks..

In my opinion there are better cab choices than the stock cabs. I have 2 300t's and I have the stock 2x15 and I have tried it with the Matching 4x10 as well. These cabs arent that great. The 2x15 is decent but the drivers cant hold much power. If you could afford it get 2 of the 2x15's and upgrade the drivers or maybe get a fender 2x15 pro. Otherwise shop around to the many other brands. Keep in mind the Bassman is a wide and deep head so get a cab that it will fit on top of. I am using mine on a Traynor TC810 right now and for the money the Traynor cabs are awesome right now. Plenty of options. i suppose 2 of the 4x10's could be ok but I wasnt too impressed with the one I played through. Maybe a Traynor TC412 or a couple of the single 15 cabs they have. Or get an Acoustic 408 cab. It fits well on there and upgrade the drivers. Sounds good with stock drivers but they wont last long with this head.

Nice score. +1 to the fender 2X15 pro. I only tried my Bassman 300 once through a
4x10 (hartke xl). Sounded pretty good, but I felt I had to be really cautious about pushing the volume with the 4x10, like right on the edge of maybe exploding. The 2x15 pro goes as loud as I would ever need, I prefer 15's anyway.

Indian, could you check the main power fuse on the head? My just blew the other day, and I'm not sure its the right one in there. (bought my 300 pro used too!) I pulled out a 3A 250v slow burn (thicker filament), the manual doesn't say anything about whats supposed to be in there.
Thanks.

WOW. I picked up a super clean 410h today for $300. Barely used..

I've been playing the amp since their holy matrimony. I have never owned a tube amp.

This amp sounds SO GOOD. Its really incredible. I havent turned it up past 2 yet. Serious power. Sounds unbelievable. I'm in a whole other universe.
