Fender Blacktop Club

I just got my Fender Blacktop Jazz Bass and I thought we ought to have a club to share pics, mods, thoughts, etc.

Anyone with Fender Blacktop Jazz or Precision Bass is welcome. (Maybe even the Blacktop guitars?):hiding:

Here is a Sweetwater pic of my bass:

So I guess I'm #1?

I'm in the process of getting my first bass, but I already have a black on black blacktop strat with a maple fret board :)

Do I get a number since I have a blacktop guitar?

The Blacktop Jazz sounds really great, but IMHO P basses are much more comfortable than j basses, so I'll probably go for the Squier Matt Freeman Sig in black/black/maple, just like my guitar :bassist:

Question for my fellow Blacktop owners: I really like my Blacktop Jazz, as does my band, but I can't seem to get the string height low enough for my liking. Has anyone else run into this and do you have any suggestions for a fix. I thought about modifying the high mass bridge by flattening the bottom of the saddles some, but realistically I should probably just look into replacing the bridge. In which case any suggestions for a replacement bridge that will get the action lower?

You may not need a bridge. Have you tried the truss rod?

Most every bass I have ever owned that had a traditional fender bridge, I could lower the strings all the way to the fingerboard. Maybe just get a regular old Fender bent metal bridge.

Exactly! I have no problem on my other Fenders, just this new bridge that seems to be giving me a problem. Looks like time to do some research and maybe try out another bridge!
