Both good, but there is a better Fender P-bass (not counting the MIA new American Standard). That is the Road Worn P-bass.

Play one with an open mind. If, like some here you just can't do that because you hate relics and know they are evil poser zombies from south of the border, then just go play one back to back with a similarly set up and strung '50s Classic and Hwy-1. Then buy the best sounding and feeling bass of the three.

...or find a used RW P-bass for like $600 on ebay and save a few hundred!

Got to agree with you here.

Of those three, the RW is IMO, by far the best of the bunch.

Of the other two.... I have a difficult time swallowing the very heavy poly finish on the 50's, which I think is otherwise a very nice bass for the money.

I'd personally have to ditch the Badass on the H1, and put a normal 5 screw Fender style bridge on it. Really don't like what those high mass bridges do to the tone on the top end. Again, otherwise, I like those H1's quite a bit.

Not a huge fan of "relics" but MAN those RW's I've tried have all been SUPER players with very good tone.

Bottom line I guess is which one suits your tastes best. They're all pretty good basses. For me , they each have something I don't care for , but as a pure player, the RW's are tough to beat IMO

Further proof of the old adage, "Different strokes..." While nitro is fine with me, I have no problem whatsoever with "bulletproof" poly. Kind of gives it that aura of indestructibility...

I went around a few shops recently to test out some RW's but didn't get one as although they sounded nice they all had scratches in the finish and looked like they had been in the shops for years and were abused.
Not good for a new bass at full price

ive owned both a few 50s in my day and one highway one, of all those precisions i regret selling my highway one more than my 50s classic. Deals can be had man especially here and even used guitar center has some deals too. just gotta look out and find em.
