Fender CS LOTTO Telecaster Bass

So, I've decided I am going to build one of these (or something very like it) after all.
It's going to be a parts bass. I'm not a luthier and don't pretend to be.
I'll probably start a new thread on the project soon, but wanted to let everyone who's been following this know.
I bought a bass with a body color I like. The color is called cherry red but it seems to have a little maroon in it to me.

I think I will splurge a little and get the Fender tele mudbucker pups used in the VM Tele Bass. They're $100 each, but I think it will be worth it.
I'll post a link to the build thread here when I start the project. Stay tuned!

One of the things I love about this Tele bass is the Witchhat knobs. So when you build yours, will you put witchhats on it or no?

Yeah, I like those too and they're a big part of the look of the bass, so I will probably stick with that style.

Calling all Toppers... 
For anyone that's interested, I just happen to have one of those Tele bass pickups, and a test bass with a huge swimming pool route for testing pickups.
I wired up the Tele bass pickup in parallel and stuck it as far toward the bridge as I could... basically just like the bridge pickup on these Lotto basses. Check it out: Link Removed
Doesn't sound half bad. I imagine it would be a bit more lively, too, if I had it wired up to a 1M pot, instead of the 250K pots I have in the bass.

Wouldn't it be more useful in a Music Man or Rickenbacker bridge position since the neck pickup is so close to the neck? Little Feat's Kenny Gradney played a modded '70s Tele with two humbuckers and the added one is a bit further from the bridge:

Who knows? I guess it depends on your preference. I was just trying to get the position as close to the Lotto bass as possible and get a recording of that.
If I had another Tele bass pickup, I'd let you know.

Awesome! If only I had the skills to make a pickguard, I'd get another pickup and go for it.

Yes, and it sounded good own it's own. From my experience basses with two pickups far apart from each other sound a bit hollow, almost like an out-of-phase -sound. Boom and honk but not enough mids.
