I saw it here a couple of days ago, magnificent Jazz! Did it come with the headstock strap-button on, or did you install it?

I put it on, just thought it looked cool, and it was on the originals...
Just for looks, no real use at all.,.

Just realized I never posted my CS basses here. These are the two basses I am keeping out of my collection. Pretty much letting go of everything else. I play the P bass about 75% of the time, and the Jazz about 25%.
The P is a 59 CS Closet Classic, and I switched out the gold guard for a tort.
The J is a Limited Edition DuoTone 1960 relic, just like the one @Jim Carr has. The only other guy I know that owns one.

Truly wonderful instrument - every aspect is top-notch, couldn't be more happy with it. The neck is perfect, meaty enough but not huge, the rosewood is dark and beautiful, fit and finish like heaven, perfect sound, very resonant... Well done Fender Custom Shop!

I actually found two small things I am concerned about my '64. The first one is rather cosmetic, and I have no problem with it - in the left neck-socket outer wall, there is a small area free of lacquer, as you can see in the photo:

I don't mind it at all, I can say it gives the bass some kind of character. The second one is in the tuners: they all seem to have a kind of cavity/gap, and not making direct contact with the headstock in all of their length:

Is something like that normal for these specific tuners, or should I worry? The whole bass is really nice, I love it and don't want to part with it - I just need to know if I should send it back to Thoamann for a micro-fix.

The gap on the tuners is normal, that's how they are. The lacquer I can't see in your photo but if you play this bass you'll have plenty more bumps and bruises as time goes on so I wouldn't worry about it.

Nice...what strings do you have there? Are they the strings that came with the bass? I have TI Flats on now but would like to experiment with other strings.

Yes, I still have the stock-ones. At the Shop Floor Traveler it mentions just "STRING SETS FOR BASS 045-065-080-100 STR22", I believe them to be Fender's 7150 nickels. My Geddy is strung with TI flats, this is going to be the roundwound bass - so far, I like them.

Soon, I will do a string comparison on my '64 and I hope to get some soundclips, too. So far the strings-list is:

DR FatBeams (.045/.065/.085/.105)
DR SunBeams (.045/.065/.085/.105)
Rotosound RS66LDN (.045/.065/.085/.105)

I will try to find some Dunlops and also include the stock strings that actually turn out to be Fender 7250ML (.045/.065/.080/.100).

What is more, I bought some cleaning agents: a Fender Custom Shop Fingerboard Remedy and a Gibson Luthier's Corner Hi-Gloss Guitar Polish (well, I am aware of the blasphemy , but the guy said it is the smoother polish for nitro). What do you think about those? What do you use?

P.S.: Saturday was the first gig-day for my '64 and she got her first belt-scratches. If I can, I will post a testimonial photo.

The only wax/polish I've ever used is P21S car wax. It's a carnauba wax (no wax is "pure" carnauba because carnauba is very stiff and brittle) that has NO cleaning agents; just wax. On and off within a few seconds and lasts 'forever.' I only use it on the body and back of the neck when the basses were new. Never had to do it again and never on the fingerboard. It's expensive stuff, but I use it on my car too.
