Fender Custom Shop Club

Well, here's a start.....

The back row left is the 2010 CS Custom Classic Jazz IV Special in Sunset Orange Transparent and right next to it is the 2007 CS Time Machine '64 Jazz Relic in Oly Wht.

The front row left to right leaning on the couch is the 2014 CS 1964 Anniversary Precision Heavy Relic, 2013 CS Pino Palladino Signature Precision, and the 2012 CS Closet Classic Precision Pro.

I got this one after the picture above was taken. This is the 2013 CS NOS 1960 Jazz "Stack Knob" with matching headstock and gold hardware.

I do not have pictures of the back of the headstocks that show the Custom Shop logo at the moment, but I could snap some and post them as well. :-)

I love Fender Custom Shop basses!
Great collection! I really dig some of your CSs! As slick_tu said, don't forget to post pictures of the CS logo (and more of the basses if you want!).

Do you have any favorite among the Js and the Ps?

Hey guys!

I'll get pics of the logos tonight and post them on here. They are all unique in their own way. Out of the P's I'd have to say the Pino Palladino is my favorite. It's just the perfect balance of feel, tone, playability, etc. I love going to my '64 Anniversary though when I need that P tone with some top end attack (the '64 Anniversary has roundwounds and the Pino has TI flats). The Closet Classic Prototype is a cool bass in and of it's own....it's got a great feel with the J neck and is pretty versatile with the P/J pickup configuration and Badass II bridge. However, I find that the P pickup isn't as "fat" sounding in this bass as it is in the '64 Anniversary and Pino. Plus, the Closet Classic Pro is considerably heavier than the other two P's.

Of the J's I'd have to say my favorite is the Custom Classic Jazz IV Special. It's just an incredible bass and is very powerful. It's has Seymour Duncan Quarter Pound pickups and the Sunset Orange Transparent just pops under stage lights. The '64 Relic and '60 NOS are awesome basses too in their own right, I just find myself grabbing the Custom Classic more than the others.

This might be more a result of the Badass bridge than the pup.
.
You may be right. I've never explored that avenue. The specs say that they are a vintage P and vintage J pickup, but that's about as far as the description goes. Mike Eldred doesn't really say exactly what kind of pickups they are other than a P and a J pickup in this demo video.

I recall a few years ago when I swapped the regular bridge on a P Bass (not a CS) with a Gotoh, which is not nearly the mass of a Badass, the Gotoh took all the fatness out of it. It became a much "thinner" sound. Although it was a good sound, it wasn't what I wanted, so I switched back.

Oh, I am so much tired of hearing "...it's a really cool...", "...that's cool...", "...a kind of cool..." 157 times in every demonstration video... :meh:

I hope you enjoy!

Now can I have a number? :)

Congrats on all those beauties! Personally, I like the '64 Jazz, the '64 Precision and the Prototype the most. ;) The only thing I don't like is the enlarged headstock on the Custom Classic - always wondering why they do it that way. :p
