Speaking of, I got the email that my custom shop is complete and in stock at the dealer. Complete with pictures. Placed the order and the deposit April 30, 2022 and looks like the bass got to the dealer on Aug 31, 2023. So for those keeping track that is a 15-16 month build. And it looks really pretty.

The finish looks like it came out fantastic. But I am disappointed in the headstock logo. I was asking for, and hoping for a 70's TV style logo, but that isn't what I got. My guess is that was lost in translation somewhere between the myself, the dealer and Fender. Not a deal breaker and nothing functional, but still a disappointment.

I think this will be my last custom bass. I have realized about myself that the customer route is not good for me. I tend to be too fickle, and much of the time want to change something about the bass constantly. Plus, I am aiming for more contentment in my gear. Spending less money, stop constantly changing guitars, amp pedals etc. In fact my thought was trying to pass on this one somehow and not end up buying it. However, now it's here I will end up getting it. The FCS process is weird, but so far the results are pretty fantastic. let's see how she is once it's in my hands.

I use covers on P-Basses all the time and they don't bother me in the least. I do think the big Jazz Bass bridge cover can be an issue. Depends on one's playing style.

I use covers on P-Basses all the time and they don't bother me in the least. I do think the big Jazz Bass bridge cover can be an issue. Depends on one's playing style.

That’s funny, I am the exact opposite. Covers on a P kill me, but covers on a Jazz have zero effect on my playing ha ha

I'm just thinking the two covers on a Jazz really eat up a lot of territory in terms of right hand placement of one wants to pluck near the bridge. It really doesn't bother me much, as I tend to rest my hand on the pickup cover and pluck closer to the neck.

You think that is bad, check out the pics of my build. Has the larger Jazz bridge cover, and the larger Precision neck pickup cover. There’s almost no space to hit the strings.

Welp, a NBD will be incoming. Got everything sorted and paid the bill (ouch) so the bass will be on its way to me soon. I’m interested to see it in person to check out the Journeyman relicing. They seemed to go very light on it. Which is not a bad thing necessarily. I’ll give my thoughts on it when I can.

I had no request regarding the covers. I do wonder if a regular P bass bridge cover would fit with the Jazz pickup. But either way they would be coming off no matter what.

Nice. I agree that the tort works really well as a change - fits with the sunburst at the arm contour.

That's really nice!!! Brings out the color of the worn sunburst area on the body. I also like the contrast with the body paint.
