I bought it from local seller in Germany, but I guess he had it from here:
Fender Precision tortoise / 10 hole / Relic / Aged / P bass 57 58 59 AVRI Celluloid | Reverb

Btw it's interesting how "white" could variate. Yellowed CS vs OW Lakland vs paper :) always essential to have a reference.

Congrats! I have the same model and absolutely love it as well. What’s the deal with the handwound pickups in the custom shop basses from the last few years? I have 4 (2 Ps and 2 Js) and they all sound incredible, way better than any other bass pickups I’ve heard. I’m not a huge ‘tone guy’ but they all sound noticeably better to me than any of my other fender basses…

You know, I was just thinking the same when making a comparison to my 2018 Jazz CS (which does not have hand wounds) - the hand wound pickups in the new bass have a quite bit more presence.

The tort guards out of the CS today are a pale imitation of the one you have on your bass. I have two CS basses with tort guards and neither are up to the standard of the rest of the instrument - they are dull and lifeless.

I'd have to agree. Seems like such a missed opportunity, especially when there are some independent makers putting out some really incredible tort guards.

It really is a shame, especially as many new basses out of the CS are selling for north of 5k. I’m trying to find replacement guards that don’t look like salami print. I’m hopeful that a black WD guard that I ordered for my black 66 Jazz will fit - I’m going Goth!

Agreed! It seems so strange that the CS tort is so dark and boring compared to the originals, considering all the other things they manage to nail. I wonder if it’s the case that they don’t want them to get too close to stop unscrupulous people from trying to pass them off as original? But if that were the case they could emboss ‘relic’ on the underside like they do with the bodies, so who knows? I’d love to get a spitfire guard but at $350+ I just can’t justify it for something purely cosmetic.

... and my luck was in! A $20 BWB pickguard from WD just fit perfectly. A bit of wire wool helped degloss it somewhat. The tort guard is now banished to the case...

Looks great! I put a Spitfire guard on my Custom Shop '59 and I'm digging the combo.

Damn! Very nice. You prompted me to finally go to the Spitfire site...Tortifile Nirvana! I have Fiesta Red and LPB CS Jazzes that I'd love to outfit with Spitfires, but I'd be afraid to pick one.
