I was thinking about snatching that one. Super light weight but wished it had a rosewood board
Yeah 7 pounds is crazy light...rosewood is more desirable for most....I don't see too many alder/rosewood Ps that aren't sunburst, and when I do, they don't last too long....there's two over there that fit the bill, but they want a lot of money for them for whatever reason.... but this one's got a nice vibe...I bet it kills all the same...

An interesting question. I have always had TI flats on the sunburst and rounds on the blue so it is difficult to make a clear comparison. The blue (relic) sounds considerably more open and transparent than the 'burst but that is no doubt at least in part attributable to the strings. I really should pop some rounds on the burst to make a direct comparison. The relic does have a slightly more stable neck.
I will put my hand up here and say that I prefer the relics ahead of closet classic and nos. Earlier I owned a closet classic CS 64 J and IMO my current relic 64 is a better instrument. As I have said before, I do not think you can get a "bad" custom shop bass and their QC is ahead of the standards but some are "special" and when you find one of those you just don't let it go.
Agree 100 percent...I had a '64 J relic I still wish was around because it killed as much as my '64 P relic does..learned my lesson..it's staying put...!

The CS '59s unless otherwise specified come with the Fender Originals Pickups, I think. If post-2016 CS models come with handwound pickups, they would definitely not be the same as the Mike Dirnt ones, which from the beveled pole pieces I assume to be the Originals. Check the specs of the CS '59 you have in mind and see the code of its pickups to find out if it features the Originals, too.

I own a set of Mike Dirnt Custom Shop Pickups from an outparted bass. Bought them when those basses came out. They have beveled pole pieces. Never owned an CS Bass - are those CS59 Pickups also beveled?
For example those look flat:

I highly doubt the Mike Dirnt pickups to be handwound. As I said earlier, CS '59s probably come with Fender Originals by default, so, yes, they use production pickups. Handwound pickups is an option for CS basses, with an upcharge of ~200$.

While in storage the original neck bowed. Replacement under warranty. For the time being I'm using a 2007 Reggie Hamilton neck.

Here's my 2014 proto precision. Was wanting a custom shop 51 relic but couldn't find one at the time. I actually love this, the neck is chunky and the thunderblade pickup has just a wicked fat tone. Would still love to find a 51 relic though.
