Fender Custom Shop Club

Yep, tort looks better! Is that a standard 62 RI Guard? Looks nice. I like the tort pattern and color.
No, I bought one from a dude on eBay who relic’s real celluloid Fender guards to match the relic’d or naturally worn basses. I was a little skeptical. But, it came in a fit perfect and looks fantastic! I do have a 62 RI tort guard on another white P bass I own. I think this relic’d guard looks much better than the 62.

Can I join? Longtime Fender player, but I just got my first custom shop jazz after 14 months of waiting. Its modest in its aesthetic, but this is my dream bass. 1960 NOS, quarter sawn neck, dark rosewood, handwound pickups. This thing sounds solid. Good weight too.

If this weren't on a CS instrument, I probably wouldn't think twice about it. Any reason (besides concern about resale value) for the Custom Shop owner to not have a professional route a channel to make truss rod adjustments possible without removing the neck? Perhaps to keep aesthetics intact, leave the pickguard alone so you have to remove that to make the adjustment? This is the one area that I didn't need to be "vintage". And yes, I've seen Vinnie B's paint lid opener idea.

If you plan on keeping the bass and it bothers you, feel free to route that channel. A nice thing with Fenders specifically is that you can hot-rod them any way you like. :)
On the other hand, my CS '64 Jazz's neck rarely moves, so it requires only one check per year at my tech. Not a problem at all.

Where's the bass already? :D
