Nothing wrong with experimentation...it can be fun...I was merely stating that I’m done with it...off loading pickups you don’t want can possibly take some time though, even here in the classifieds..it can surely be done, though..

I have often said that nothing sounds like a Fender and it’s hard to not feel the custom shop is the pinnacle of that brand. I believe I am ready and I am considering this bass. I totally love the gold color and the way it looks. If it sounds anything like my American Original, I know I am going to be pleased. It is inbound and I should get to play it for the first time next week. In the meantime, I am curious if anyone has one of the 30th anniversary basses from 2017 NAMM like this one. If so, your thoughts? Would you buy it again? Do you still have it? It’s listed as a limited edition. Does anyone know how many have been? Thanks in advance for your help and I hope to be joining the club in the near future.

I’ve never felt going Masterbiilt was worth it for those prices...they charge more than Roger Sadowsky, Jimmy Copollo, and John Suhr, three builders of equal regard in my book, and I’m a big fan of Jason Smith’s and Todd Krause’s works, but the “Fender tax” is a too much for me...I can understand someone dreaming of a Fender of particular specs their whole life,finally being able to make it happen , and going Masterbuilt...dreams are worth whatever the cost if you can pay for them...I’ve been really happy with the three Teambuilt basses I have owned and can’t imagine them not doing it for me from now on..
Thanks... as much as I really like the look of the bass, I agree that there are lots of other options that aren’t in that price range. I have to admit that I am anxiously awaiting the chance to play the one that’s on the way. I played another Fender I own tonight and I’m just amazed at the way they cut through the mix.
Even though I don't own a 2017 CS, I don't think you will find any difference in build quality. CS instruments are top notch. My 2014 is perfect.

Yes... it’s inbound and I hope to be able to play it later next week. Once that audition is done, I’ll decide whether to keep it or try another.
So, the HLE Gold Relic came in last week and I went to play it on Thursday. The tech there was just shaking his head no when I arrived. I had heard that it needed a truss rod adjustment before I ordered it, but that was all that it needed. Unfortunately, I think one could have shot arrows with it out of the case. I guess it hung in New York and no one ever adjusted it for 2 years. The truss rod was very tight and it still had significant relief. So, I passed. It sounded pretty good and I liked the fit and finish other than the neck. Fender was/is making a new neck for it which is forecasted to take 106 days to arrive. I have mixed emotions about that.
Having said all that, I still would like to experience the full glory of the FCS bass and I have ordered what is described as a used 2017 Postmodern P/J NOS in Red. Current specs that I can find indicate this is a P body and J neck etc... I can't find a lot of other info from 2017 that lines up with that description. There aren't any picks, but I am told that it is "Dead mint" with all the paperwork included. It should be here later this week and I will have another go at joining this club. Or more importantly, being the proud owner of one these fine instruments.
I explain all that here in case the one that traded the Red Postmodern P to GC in Florida can share some photos and/or provide any information. While "Dead Mint" makes me happy on a phone call, I am not sure it is more than marketing on the part of a sales guy in Florida. Yes, I am a bit jaded at times.

I bought my latest FCS P from The Bass Place...great, unique selection most of the time and the guys are great to deal with..
I did finally get a photo to load on one of my browsers and it appears to be the same color as yours, Dakota Red, but that’s where the similarities end. Yours is gorgeous. Oddly enough, I had a Day dream about a red bass late last week and I don’t know why. I searched GC for red basses and didn’t find anything that made me feel warm and fuzzy. Sunday morning, this listing showed up in a general custom shop search. I don’t know... I believe things happen for a reason. In this case, the reason is yet to be seen. Could be many things. Could be nothing. Anticipation.
I do have one other question for the folks here. I have seen wildly varying prices for this model and I know condition has a lot to do with the price of a used instrument, but does anyone have a range for what this model should cost. I have a link to what I believe to be a similar one, but it seems low even considering the exchange rate. Any other guesses?

I've seen new NOS Postmodern P basses listed for anywhere between $3,100 and $3,500. New relic'd models are over $3,800. Couldn't tell you what the actual selling prices were.

Thanks... I like that sparkle! The one I’m looking at is used, but priced like new ones. So, I may pass. It will need to knock my socks off at this point. Or they can discount it a bit.

There seems to be a wide range of prices. The sparkle blue one was listed here for some time at $2850. Can't find the listing now.
