I’ve been eying this bass online for a bit. My recent success with the 51 gave me hope to try another. It came in yesterday and I went to pick it up this morning. This one is really warm and mellow. The rosewood neck is very nice too. The laser body makes this one of the lightest basses I own. I’m working on the setup stuff this week and hope to add it to the rotation very soon. Here are a few photos of my second Custom Shop Bass.

Thanks... I really liked the look in the photos. I played one the all rosewood neck P Basses several months ago and it wasn’t stellar. I believed the CS would be better and I really dig 2tsb with gold anodized PGs. There is very light checking which I couldn’t get to photograph. The other journeymen relic features are subtle, but nice. The biggest surprise was the “sort for light” ash. It may be the lightest bass I’ve played... Hofner’s not included.
For me, this is the best looking burst our there. Congratulations!

It’s not in front of me, but the shop floor traveler said something like buff fingerboard. It’s rosewood, but not your typical rosewood. I like it. It’s sorted for dark too and the clay dots fit perfectly with the look.
This model is a 57 RI except it has a rosewood neck/fingerboard. Not sure if it's all one piece. Because a 57 Precision would have had a gloss finish over it's maple board, this version is keeping to the production method of spraying both the front and the back of the neck with lacquer because that would have been the production method used in 1957.
That would indicate a one piece neck.
EDIT: From photos I have seen that you have uploaded, on Guitar Center and other areas, it doesn't look as though it has the skunk stripe. However, if anyone should know it would be the guy who owns one. It could be a rosewood skunk stripe.

On closer inspection... what I perceived as a skunk strip is not. It is grain and the way they have used scotchbrite on the neck. It is also clear that the fretboard is round lam. AAA rosewood lam per the traveler.
So the consensus seems to be that the Palladino custom shop bass is the ultimate. Can anyone advise me as to what difference I might hear/notice between this and my custom shop 59 relic P other than color? Just asking since a Palladino has turned up used.
I have never played a Pino, so this may be of no interest, but I’m typing anyway.
When I got my 57, I heard there was a Pino too, but it turned out that it was just the box in which mine was shipped. I was a little bummed as I was really hoping to A/B them and maybe get the Pino. Having said that, I’m thrilled with the 57, and the 51, so I can’t really see anything being better. Different... maybe even better... still... I might get one one day as they are really cool.
I've owned a few '59 custom shop P's and I can tell you there's a difference mainly in the tone. To me, the '59 is darker and beefier whereas the Pino is more even and midrange. Both are exactly the same quality-wise. The feel are pretty much the same as well, though the '59 might have a slimmer neck profile.
Here is my Pino Prototype #1 I just picked up signed by the man himself when they first built these. They made 2, he took one and now I have the other. I cannot believe I'm even typing this, it's a wild dream come true.
