Fender Custom Shop vs Sadowsky Metro

That's correct Mark. I feel that my playing and practice is at a stage where my current POS basses are holding me back. I also feel that if i am to get a new bass, it may aswell be something professional that will last a long time.

Dr Cheese, thanks for suggesting the Lakland, there is a 55-02 at my local bass shop that i should probably check out.

Actually they didn't. Both are well-known for using P basses. Sure, they might have used Jazzes at one point and time, but they made their marks with P's.

Carol...used a J??...I think not...in fact she despised them! She used P basses exclusively...later on she tried Gibsons and even endorsed the MM stingray when they first appeared...but she NEVER used a J in the studio or live.

Ditto for Babbit I believe

Hey there,

I got a uv70 metro direct from sadowsky about 4 months ago, guy thought it was alright so he ordered some metro sadowskys, some 5s and stuff...

if you pm me, i'll take my Sadowsky into basscentre and you can try it against the customshops and stuff... its a maple board so thats not what you want but you can get the idea of the feel and stuff...

a good mate of mine bought the first customshop the basscentre got and it is absolutely awesome! hes been playing it over a year now and it just gets better and better!

but you even with the rosewood board the uv70 is going to be more agressive than the jazz... the 70's bridge pu spacing and stuff changes it all...

mate, i'm terrible,

i've been going at least once a week lately... i sold a bass on comission and some pickups and stuff... and i'm always buying strings now AND its a cool place to hang :D

EDIT: say, was it you slappin it up testing out 5 strings???

i like the sleeker body and the active onboard of the metro, so it'd most likely be a better match for me than the fender custom shop gear.

the fender CC's are fine specimens, but IMHO, i've seen a few that didnt seem to be as attentive to detail as the metro's i've seen, i.e. sharp frets that protrude from the side of the fretboard, sloppy neck pockets, and not so smooth tuners. the metro's on the other hand were all very satisfactory.

might be the fact that the metro's arent churned out as quickly nor as close to the volume the fender's do. *shrug*

lol, haha. when i move to melb im going to try to get a job there! i dont care whether its getting the guys coffee or cleaning the toilet :D lol

Yeh, i was playing the lakland 55-02 and the ray 5. I ended up buying a ray 5! I thought that was you though lol

I have both 62 custom shop. and a metro 4. I like the tone of the custom shop more personally. but I use the sadowsky all the time also. I think you can not cop the fat low end fender vibe,but you can get the jaco sound and many other more modern sounds out of it. I bought to be a recording bass. I ussally like my custom shop better on tape and end up using my sadowsky on large pa gigs. It cuts throuhg and is still a sharp sound in a big rig.
