Fender Custom Shop worth the $$?

CS means you order exactly what you want (within reason of course). What I wanted was not otherwise available. Yes, you can order from others, but I suspect the cost and time would be equal to or higher than Fender. Are any of them worth it? Only you can say.

Getting exactly what you want is priceless, especially if you can afford it.

I still prefer Fender 4s, and boutique (Elrick, Lakland, Zon, etc.) 5ers but have never spent ownership time with a Fender 5. I'm happy with what I have so will probably never experience the latest (and reportedly best) Fender 5s. I'm off the bass-go-round

I'm no great player but due to circumstances, have both a newer US standard Precision and a CS precision. CS instrument has had trouble with volume and tone pot wiring since day one, and doesn't feel as "balanced" as the US standard. CS currently gathering dust in a case.

Love my 64 CS jazz bass. Look for used CS's...they will run you as much as a Lull give or take a few dollars. There's always some floating around the classifieds here...that's where I got mine.

See if your Lull has Fralin's. The 64 CS jazz I have has Fralin's made for Lull and it sounds amazing.

Just looking over old posts. I mentioned above about my fender CS gathering dust...I got it the wiring fixed and took care to do a proper setup on - lucked out with that and have been playing it pretty much exclusively since. It's light, has an infamously good tone and is lovely to play, even if the fretting is a bit more strenuous than some other basses.

I have never owned a Fender custom, to me a +$3,000 USD means exotic woods, boutique pickups, etc. However, I bought a Fender select that quality is very high, nice extra features and I paid less than the cost of an MIA standard, I would like to suggest this bass to you.
