Fender Decals On Non-Fender Basses

No, Fender licences Mighty Mite to sell necks for them. Thats marketing 101 Right there. Are all your facts so weak?

From this site (Fenders own) it is clear that Fender did indeed sell the decals at one time and that currently they can be obtained by a Fender Dealer/Repair center.

The thing that pisses off the people against this is how hard the ones who do it work at justifying it. I really don't care much what anyone does, but the ridiculous justifications here get me going. Especially the "pay tribute" crap. What else do these people pay tribute to? It's a cheesy, dishonest thing to do that you wouldn't even think of doing if you were fine with yourself, your playing, and your finances. If ya want to do it, do it.

Mighty Mite DOESN'T sell Fender-labeled necks. How often do I have to tell you that?? Did you not notice the lack of decals on those necks??

Fender DOESN'T sell replacement necks, nor do they sell decals.

I've checked into getting a legitimate Fender decal for a Fender Telecaster of mine from the local Fender repair shop.

First of all they're for exact replacement only. So it's very doubtful they'd send a "Fender" decal for a Squier.

It's not an easy process, involving pictures of the instrument sent to Fender, in-hand inspection of the instrument by the tech for authenticity and surrender of the original decal if there's anything left. Plus the Fender tech is the only one authorized to apply the Fender decal to the Fender instrument.

Forgot to add: I wouldn't be able to receive the decal directly, it's sent to the shop and they apply it to the instrument.

You say you don't care, but then go on to say why it bugs you, and then you flat out insult the ones who choose to do it.

Joe, that is exactly what the OP asked for...."for the one's who have done it, what's the reason?"

Why get pissed off when they answer the OP?

Seems like you would get pissed at all the witch-hunters who are de-railing the thread into legal arguments and judgments of morality.

FWIW, I don't think anyone condones someone trying to turn a profit at Fender(or the buyers) expense by selling a fake badged bass. I understood the OP to be asking a question for peoples personal reasons for doing this to a personal bass, and not whether it was right or wrong, or criminal.

If he had started a thread,"for the ones who have changed out Fender's stock bridge for a Badass, why did you do it?" , I don't think we would see all of this judgment of character and calling people names. To me, this thread was posted in that vein, and has been hijacked by Fender holy-rollers.
