Stingray all the way.

I had an American Jazz Deluxe, and the tone just sucked. In my opinion, the preamp was absolutely horrible.

Right now I'm playing a mix of Blues, Blues/Rock—but I've played in Classic Rock, Motown, R&B and Hard Rock projects with my Classic Stingray SR4H (has a 2 band EQ) and a regular Stingray SR4H (has the 3 band EQ). They're both incredible instruments.

Want the best of both? Get a MM Big Al, IMHO the most versatile electronics on a bass available today, and it is lighter than both a P or Stingray.

good rec but see below the OP is not down with the slimmer Sterling neck profile...Big Al (iic) has a simila slim neck profile

I have a P bass, jazz and a EBMM Sterling
love them all but the P bas and Sterling are my go to
basses. I'm looking to sell/trade the Sterling for a
Stingray. The neck on the Sterling is too thin for me
but it looks sounds and plays great. It sets up really nice too

I voted Stingray, I own a ray35 which is the stingra made by Sterling(also owned by MusicMan), I didn't have the budget for a stingray but at 800 bucks(NEW) I'm not so sure I can justify spending the extra money as amazing as this sounds.

I could very well be wrong, but I don't think EBMM owns SBMM.

SBMM is owned and run by Praxxis - with permission from EBMM

I say based on your leanings a 'Ray is the right choice. You have the P and J deal covered..like the Sterling but want a chunkier neck - sounds like a 'Ray to me...HS, H or HH

+ 1 to the Bongo suggestion as well...great (ray like) neck and a ton of tones - ergonomic and a treat to play - that being said I do love 2 band H 'Rays! Let us know which way you go :bassist:
