I've never liked the Stingray, owned an H for a while. EBMM basses sound too compressed. I would be hands down happier with the Fender AmDlx P. I have an AmDlx Jazz V and it is simply fantastic. The playability of the asymmetrical compound radius neck as well as the combination of the N3 pickups and pre have left me absolutely speechless. Easily the most expressive and easiest to play bass I've tried. Fender really improved their AmDlx line. My bass is a 2013 and I couldn't be happier with the purchase.

I voted Stingray, I own a ray35 which is the stingra made by Sterling(also owned by MusicMan), I didn't have the budget for a stingray but at 800 bucks(NEW) I'm not so sure I can justify spending the extra money as amazing as this sounds.

Now since you are looking for a 4 sting(I beleive) the Ray34 would also be an option

I could very well be wrong, but I don't think EBMM owns SBMM.

For your project, I would go for the Fender... Honestly, I think either would be a winner and I don't think the average audience member would be able to discern the tonal differences between the 2 in a live setting in a mix (funny I JUST made a very similar remark in another forum). That being said, if you get into recording, certain bass designs fit better with certain songs so the versatility of the Fender could be a major asset in your future music endeavors. Musicman Classics are pretty sexy though....

As a late recommendation, the G&L L-2000 would get you any sound you want for less than either the proposed Fender or Musicman depending on what options you select. Also you would have more of a say in color and neck dimensions with a far superior build quality

I have a G&L L-2000 Tribute that I'm selling. Great bass but I like the P Bass and Stingrays more.

Please elaborate on what you like better about the Ps and Rays because, to my ears, I can get good P or Ray Tones from the
L-2000, also the build quality of a USA G&L is better than anything in its price range and even some of the the products above its price range... just my opinion though... I will say I prefer the look of both the Stingray and the especially a P I also want to note that I no longer own my L-2000 (got into some financial issues a while back and sold it... when I had the money I decided to try different things and ended up with a Fender P, Reverend Decision, G&L JB, and my custom fretless... all that aside I have never had a more versatile bass than my L-2000... i will concede that they arent the prettiest one out there but with that tone and craftsmanship I don't really care)

Having owned an USA L-2500 and sold it for my EBMMs...
An L series can only mimick a P or a 'Ray. On stage and to someone who doesn't know any better it might sound close enough. But to any level of critical listener it's pretty obvious that it's only a ballpark estimation. G&Ls offer a lot, and some tones that a P, J or EBMM won't get.
I also would argue that an EBMM is built just as well as a USA G&L. Fit, finish, cleanliness of the control cavity was very similar between the two - very, very high quality.
One area G&L has EBMM "up" on is options... so many more options from G&L, some that I wish were available from EBMM (i.e. ebony fretboard).

I got you I mean it comes down to preference... I would argue that the build quality on the baseline USA Stingrays is good (much better than Fender USA) but I still have to give it to G&L... Again just my opinion... Also, the Stingray Classics and the re-emergence of the Sabre I think these two lines are every bit as good as anything G&L makes and they are at about the same price point if you were to order birdseye/flamed necks vintage tint gloss finishes etc etc etc so yes I think if were comparing the Classic Series Musicman basses and G&L I think it's a complete stalemate in build quality and materials... When comparing run-of-the mill USA Stingrays with run-of-the mill USA L-Series G&L I give the edge to G&L

I do like the G&L but I find my P bass is lighter and my Sterling a bit better in quality and feel. I'm selling a G&L L-2000 Tribute if you're interested.

Thanks, but I'm not in the market right now... I shy away from the Tribute Series only because of the issues with
Cor-tek... I know some people in the market thoughtand I'll send them your way :hyper:
