I am thinking of pulling the trigger on one of these. I really like the looks of one with the maple fretboard, and the prices I have seen are anywhere between $479 to $599. Has anyone here seen/played one, and what dealer where these made for?

Fender FSR J Bass White Chrome Pearl

I bought one at the end of last year through Sweetwater. I had a Classic Vibe Jazz for a little while but couldn't bond with it so I returned it. 6 months later I had the Jazz itch again and came across this bass. I really liked the color combo so I pulled the trigger. I don't know if I had a lemon CV or what but this bass just seems much better in every regard. After stringing it with TI flats it sounds perfect.

Stringing it with flats will be the first thing I do.
I'm now about 95% sure I am going to buy it.
Back in 1992 I had a Squire by Fender that was the exact same color... Just plain beautiful with the maple fretboard and I then changed to all gold hardware. Glad to see that finish back...
I don't know what it is (probably the ash body 
) but I've owned an FSR p bass and there's just something about them that makes them sound and feel a lot nicer than any Squier or MIM standard I've ever come across. I say go for it!

Te fret board feels great. It's my first bass with a maple board and it seems somehow smoother than my rosewood basses.

I own one of the natty ash/tort FSRs as well and I agree with what you said. I bought mine over several Am Standards i tried the same day.
Just pulled the trigger on one of these myself - love the look of the finish, and this will be my first bass with the maple fretboard. Should be in within the week, and I cannot wait to get my hands on it!
I could be wrong but weren't the FSR's made for stores like GC, Sweetwater, MF, and other such stores.
There is one listed on Amazon from 8th Street Music for $549.

Your correct about that, but I have seen them listed on sites other than MF, and GC. I guess any fender dealer could order them.

Well, after a few weeks in backordered status, I finally got it over the weekend - I'm absolutely in love with this thing, it's my first Jazz Bass and it's such a huge step above what I've been playing for the last 10 or so years. I can't get over it really! The white chrome pearl finish is amazing - pics don't really do it justice, though the one above in the thread looks much better than mine came out! I should try snapping a pic in more natural light.
