Fender Fullerton Reissue club

Just bought this baby and it sounds amazing... From what I can tell, it seems genuine, but what are the expert oppionions on this?

Well actually I'm a worse photographer than a bass player (obviously...) - and my photo gear sucks also a bit more than my bass gear. Anyhow, the color is very fiesta (looks almost like a brick).

It's in pretty decent shape, only a few chips on the headstock - otherwise it's practically mint. Any recommendations on how to treat the neck? My other basses are 70s PVC-covered monsters, and that will almost certainly only wear off if sanding paper was used... Would you use any oil?

The fiesta Jazz looks like the right shade.

The white pickguard doesn't seem original because the screw pattern is the late 70's pattern around the E string side of the bass.
But the key items look right; the curved rosewood laminate at the headstock, and the decal position are correct, and of course the serial falls well within.

Interesting. I compared the pattern to my sunburst 83 stack, and your right, this Fiesta is different.

I'll note that my 88 (non-Fullerton) Fiesta stack had an identical pattern to my 83, because I put my tort guard on it for a while and it lined up perfectly.

So this is a bit strange.

Cool thing - I'll check this out as soon as I get home on Friday.

It could well be a replacement, although it does have a greenish tint and also some slight shrinkage - I wouldn't know how someone would get a seventies screwed Pickguard with a G-string thumbrest, but we'll see.

At any rate, Caca deserves his "master of fullertons" reputation!

My hunch is that it's stock, and simply a result of what they had at the moment. Perhaps they were just gearing up on the Fiestas (and/or any others that would get a white guard rather than tort) and had not received the correct guards yet, but had these around?

Think of the custom colors they sprayed over bursts to fill an order, thing like that.

Ya never know.

Does anyone know if the Fullerton's had any spray overs? There's a 82 AVS 57 that I know of, but haven't moved on it because I haven't found any info confirming if they ever did any over spraying of 3TB's. The bass I'm talking about looks like it has black or sunburst finish underneath a opaque blond finish. Sorry I don't mean to hijack the thread.

Yes, "I" still think it's worth 1900.....or at least I'd pay that for it.

Now.....I think saw a Fullerton era tort guard on Ebay within the last week. If I were you.......
