Good for L&M... I wasn't surprised to see an exclusive GC Fender a few years ago, but I'm a little surprised to see the same treatment up here.

I agree the MIM Fenders are really high quality these days.

But for the money, for a P Bass w/ a J neck, I will stick w/ an 80's USA Peavey Fury w/ a Duncan SPB1 vintage pickup.

Doesn't a MIM P body and MIM Jazz neck cost less? Ok, add $120 for a really nice pickup and $150 for a nice bridge, some $$ for tuners. It's still cheaper to build your own from MIM parts, no?

When did MIM get so expensive? Shouldn't prices go down as production improves with more efficient technology? Instead we get the opposite...

No. Any improvement in production efficiency is more than offset by increases in your cost of living while the value of your dollar is decreasing. And for an extra kick in the junk, wages are being suppressed nationwide. Have a nice day.

This may be old news to some (or most) of you guys, but I ran into a fender rep at L&M and he was talking to sales manager about product placement, etc as I was playing an Am Std P in the bass section of the store.
As I was getting ready to leave, he pulled a brand new bass out of the box. It was a P with a Geddy neck that fender has put out. He let be play around on it and said it was a limited run only selling at L&M. I don't know if there's an American equivalent to L&M that sells them as well, but they are really nice basses.
I believe they are MIM, and they retail in Canada for around a $1000. Anyone else ever seen one of these animals around?

Ahhhh I saw one of those at the Terminal Vancouver L&M...I was wondering what those were!

Just for anyone who didn't know. You have always been able to order a MIA Precision with a Jazz width neck. I have six different P's and all but two have J width necks. Some came with them and some I changed out. Also Precision width and neck thicknesses front to back have varied through the years. Historically there are actually four neck widths A,B, C, and D which is rarely used.
