Fender Jaguar Bass (HELP)

Hello Guys, i'm new on this forum, and if i'm posting on the wrong place, i'm sorry.

I got a Fender Jaguar Bass, the one from special edition bass....
But i'm having some problems with that bass that is not really the quality of the Jaguar.
I have some noises that comes in when i have the bass on and plugged, but with my arms not on it.
Also i have some other noises, strange ones that comes when i use distortion pedals... compressor...maximizer, and mostly effects.... the more i turn up the volume, the more strange noises i get....
I would like to know if changing the pickups for a Noiseless from fender, would soulve the problem ?
And how about the sound from pickups, is it fine ?

Prolly the shielding - or lack of it - or a broken ground somewhere.

Typically if you insert any active stomp box, you can make the errant noises amplify and you get the hum/noise amplified.

You may have to go into the control area and test all the grounds with an Ohm meter and a close visual inspection.

Don't forget that you might also have a cable problem too. Try different cables first to see.

Jag's well-known issue is the improper shielding of the cavities. i have experienced it on mine as well. it's an easy fix, no need to change the pickups (unless you don't like them!). the procedure should be described somewhere here in talkbass, that's where i got it. try to use the serch option and good luck with your Jag!

Yeah my Jag was pretty noisy when I got it too, but since its been shielded it has quieted down quite a bit.

Anothetr TB member was nice enough to tale pics of the copper tape he added to conect all the control cavities to each other and the back of the pickguard.

Many people have had great success doing just these three small pieces of tape.

I personally haven't done this mod to mine but I haven't really experienced any extraordinary noise problems yet. I'll probably get around to it eventually but will use aluminum foil because I'm a lazy SOB.

i used conductive paint in the cavites of mine, and installed dimarzio ultrajazz bass pickups and now it's absolutely dead quiet.
