Fender Jaguar Bass

That's the same reason why it has become my main bass. The playability is just awesome.

Once you got all the problems fixed it becomes a killer bass. I wish there's a fiver version! I won't be able to resist it definitely!

I'm having a black pickguard made for my new MP Jaguar. It should be here any day. And you are so right about all the knobs. I used to have a MIJ Fender Jaguar, it is was noisy and I could never get the sound I wanted out of it (and believe me I tried) and to sit well in the mix in a live situation.

I was so glad when the MP Jag became available. It is an awesome bass with the 'P' pickups.

I have this model in black w/tort PG, but they are now available in a few other color combos.

And in my opinion, this is the nicest "Fender" Jaguar version unless you have to have active electronics. Plus you can have it for under $300.

Also, the Fender Jag with all the bells and whistles is apparently still sold in Japan, and with a white options as well: [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

they actually never stopped making them, since when they discontinued selling them in the USA, they were still available in Japan. all they did was change what colors that they're offering now, but otherwise, it's the same bass.

the active electronics in mine were noisey (like most of them), but after shielding ti properly, mine were completely quiet. i opted for replacing the preamp with an active EMG treble and bass control preamp (i like them better than the stock one) & installed dimarzio ultrajazz pickups (among other mods) and they're as good as any of my jazz basses now.

John, when you did the shileding, did it quiet the original electronics?

Did you happen to post up a thread about your approach? I'd love to know and share that info with my electronics tech.

I should probably upgrade the preamp like you did, but I want to make a go of it with the stock preamp first and see how it goes.

Can I ask where you're having the pickguard made, and how much it cost? And some pics would be cool too.

Oh no you didn't! A Squier (i.e. affordable) P-J Jag in Oly white and tort? Just when I'd convinced myself I only needed one bass.

I'm having it made at WD Music Products Should come in the mail today. I sent them the MP Jag pickguard and they are making a template from it. The MP Jag pick guard is different than the Squier VM Pickguards. Turn around time for the pick guard is about 4 days, probably less now that they have a template. Cost for B/W/B is $30. A whole lot cheaper than another popular pickguard maker wanted

Thanks, it looks like I'll be getting a new bass sometime after Christmas. Might take me a while to save up the cash with my crappy $8 an hour job.
