Hi!

I just fell in love with Jaguar, so I'm saving money to buy one.
But I don't know if the new one is exactly the same as the old one. I would like to get a red Jaguar with matching headstock. Are these available in USA or just in Japan?

I believe the new one (Deluxe model) has a standard sized Jazz neck with a instead of the "Thin C' similar to the Geddy Lee. Other than that and new colors, I think it's the same.


edit: Also, no more matching headstock on the red.

The original Jaguar Bass had a small rounded neck, but not as skinny as the Geddy Lee. The new one looks nice in Cobalt Blue. I am saving up for blue.

it looks like newer versions have the bridge pickup positioned further toward the bridge compared to the older versions

The old had 9.5" radius finger board. The new has 7.25". The old has 70s pickup spacing and as far as I know, so does the new. The old has a terrible ground hum issue, hopefully the new ones do not.

It sounds to me Dyna corrected a lot of shortcomings on the new Jaguar, the very things I would have.

Unfortunately, they're lots more expensive than the ~$480 I got mine for new less than two years ago.

The old has a terrible ground hum issue, hopefully the new ones do not.

It was a quick fix, just a gaffe in the original shielding routine. The battery box connection was another source of problems.

One difference is that it looks like they're gone to a white pickguard on the sunburst, if you click on the picture on the Fender site. Ugh.

Changes from tortoise to white. No clarification in the specs.

I never had any issues with my Jag, it's the older one with the matching red headstock.

I bought a used Jag the seller said he bought it in February of this year it is the burst with a tortuous pick guard. How do I know what year model it is.? How much did they sell for new?

I love this bass and as far as I know it is problem free!

Odd, mine is almost exactly the same size/feel as a Geddy. The biggest difference to me is the gloss vs. satin finish on the back, prefer the satin on the Geddy but both are pencil-thin.

May be a production run thing, but some GLs and some Jaguars have identical neck dimensions, according to some here who have both and compared them by actual measurement.

Same pickups, too.

Same description on the old ones. I'd assume same pups.

The Fender site is annoyingly inconsistent. Some pictures show tort on the sunburst, some white (or probably mint). The online retailers in the UK show it as tort.
