The CAR (red) bass above is not a 70's FSR bass but a 75RI FSR bass! The 70's FSR basses were basses with parts used in different years of the 70's and did not come in CAR. The above bass was originally made for the European market with 200 peices being made but 160 stayed here in the states and 40 went abroad. Actually the bass came out in 2002. I own this bass.

Yup, this is the one. Highly coveted by Jazz freaks, hard to find. It came out in three colors I think, I remember a blue, a black, and possibly a white.

To me, this model constitutes the big tease, and is the source of my never-ending frustration with Fender. If they made these a little more available, with 4 or 5 color options, I think a LOT of players and collectors alike would be all over it. I sure would.

I do not understand very well it of the numbers of series. My guitar is the number 320. Were that I number of guitars done of this model?
Pyrohr great expert has said to me that the guitar is 75 reissue fsr jazz bass. Has someone this guitar in u.s.a?

Thanks to all and regards from españa

Actually there were about 900 basses made in total in this special run, so the serial numbers run from something like 00001 to 009xx (I had one in OLY, I seem to remember that there were 5 digits in the serial). The 900 basses were made in 4 colors, the three mentioned above - CAR, LPB, Olympic White - but also Sonic Blue. The Olympic White and Sonic Blue were 250 pcs each, and they were '70s RI models, meaning they were a mix of different years. The CAR and LPB were '75 RI models and were about 200 pcs each. The CAR is most likely the most coveted of the four.
