It being a hot July here in Texas (they always are), I've got my ceiling fan in my bedroom cranked up to maximum speed. Now, usually I don't practice bass in my bedroom wearing my strap, but today I did on a lark. When I went to take the bass off later, I unthinkingly raised it high over my head and...WHACK! Headstock into the fan.
After making sure my heart had become dislodged from my throat, I inspected the headstock and found a bit of the wood on the end had been unceremoniously hacked off, but otherwise everything looked a-ok. Still, I'm a bit skittish and wondering if there's any less obvious signs of damage that might come from a hard impact to the neck like that?
