I sure couldn't pull that off. But that guy sounds great and it fits the band's aesthetic, which I think is pretty cool. Also, that tune is a ripper and I am a sucker for slapped P bass.

Was just gonna reply the same.

Looks cool, looks horrible to play. Strap button on back near neck pocket? Balance will be bad and bass will want to tip away from your body.

If the strap button was moved to the back/plate it might be just fine. I owned a Westone Dynasty bass. It was perfectly balanced to play even though it was essentially a 34" scale flying V.

I wish the pickguard was angular, and I wish it had a separate control plate, or was possible to remove the pickguard and still have it look good. Looks like there would be exposed routes underneath. I dig it otherwise... maybe for the used price.

It is. I worked for one of the few places in the states that had these back in 1985. You gotta be really determined to play one for even one song. Nightmare standing up, can't be played sitting down. We ended up selling the three guitars and one bass all at cost as I recall.

The originals did NOT have pickguards.

Exactly why I did not buy one back then.

I'd have to anchor my plucking/picking arm on it like I do my Explorer-style guitars, which works for me but not something to which all players would be accustomed.

It's a looker if you're in the market for "different" and he sure gets a good tone from it, nice definition and growl.

Never cared for the Katana. The Performer however was a very fine design.
