Fender Marcus Miller wiring modification

Hey guys,

This is probably in the wrong forum but it's not technically a question about pickups so I didn't put it there. I might be trading basses for a Fender Marcus Miller Jazz and have heard that there's a way to modify the wiring so that the tone controls work when it's in passive mode and so that it sounds better in active mode. I found a thread about it but it was like trying to read tax code.

Have any of you out there done this modification? Could you explain it to me in simple English step-by-step so I could do it if/when I trade for the Marcus Miller?

I have done a wiring modification to my MM jazz but it still has no passive tone control. The Bartolini wiring mod is to truly bypass the pre-amp when the switch is in bypass. Earlier MM basses not only drained batteries but it played through a flat pre-amp while in passive mode! The wiring mod corrected this! My bass sounds passive in passive mode but still has no tonal control in that mode.
