Fender master built or wal bass

Cant decide between a fender master built jazz bass with an:
•ebony fretboard
•flame maple neck
•alder body
•all black with gold hardware
Or a wal mk3 with
•flame maple facings
•ebony fretboard

Do you want Ginger or Mary Ann? Totally different basses - totally different sounds and feel.

The Fender sounds like visual overkill to me.

If you can afford a Wal you should go for it. They are amazing, and the Mk3 is my favorite.

I voted Fender. Only because I can't find a bass better than the Fender I have. And yes I have tried a Wal.

Yeah you're comparing apples to school busses. Narrow down for us what sounds you like, what music you like/play, etc.

Those two basses will sound and feel completely different.

All that being said, if you have that kinda scratch to put into basses, find a used Wal and still buy yourself a really nice jazz with the change.

You can find CS Fenders all day long and I'm not sold on the fancier woods making it sound any better than all the other CS Jazzes out there. Wal has more of a cool factor and obviously sounds amazing. Then again, I hear their neck shapes are an acquired taste.

Wal basses most certainly hold their value. I've seen many used models sell for nearly what they go for new.

I like rush, zeppelin, sabbath, tool, pantera, etc hope that helps. Also i wish i could find a good used wal bass but i could only find 3 on reverb, 2 of them being left handed fretlesses and 1 was priced higher than a brand new wal. Ive checked ebay, guitar center and just about every music outlet and couldnt find one used.

Yeah Wal. Nothing about any of that music says fancy grain jazz with gold plated parts. It would just be out of place in my view.

Um…I assume you know what a Wal bass is. And you also know it takes about two years to get one after they've accepted your order, right?

No dout in my mind get the WAL,you can get a well made jazz anytime and mod it to your like cheaply enough

Join the Wal group on Facebook if you're seriously looking. They come up for sale quite often. A lot are in the UK and with the dollar being strong against the Pound the time hasn't been better in a long time to grab a Wal.
