You can't you order a J-neck (1.5 inches) on a P body in the FENDER MOD SHOP???!!! This combo seems like a no brainer to me. Am I wrong here? Why do you guys think Fender isn't offering this option?

I think Me'Shell Ndegéocello used to do that with vintage Fender parts. Some vintage p bass necks are VERY NICE.Something tells me I'm the ONLY person that puts a P neck on a Jazz body ....![]()
Fender even offers a P to J conversion neck.lol, you and about 643 other TB'ers ask same question... every few months or so![]()
Is the Custom Shop Fender really THAT good...!?? If I'm gonna spend $5k I rather get something vintage or boutique. It’s maddening for sure! My guess is that Fender wants people to pony up for custom shop for that easy (IMO) option. Very frustrating.
According to @sleddogn it's been discussed quite a bit on Talkbass (I believe it) - now Fender offers 6 different p-bass necks in the mod shop - nothing with a 1.5 width. IMHO that's strange given the company's history in the early 70s with "A-width" p-necks. It would be nice if the Mod Shop also offered nitro finishes - Fender already offers nitro on a fair amount of their basses. Some might say nitro and other details are what the Custom Shop is for - however, branding and price wise, it seems like CS instruments are more works of arts than straight up tools for gigs.I’m so glad someone finally had the courage to bring this up
I did it too and I am lovin’ it!Something tells me I'm the ONLY person that puts a P neck on a Jazz body ....![]()
Look into the Fender Deluxe Active Precision Bass Special. A MiM killer P bass with a Jazz neck and PUs.You can't you order a J-neck (1.5 inches) on a P body in the FENDER MOD SHOP???!!! Nah, they offer a Squier P with J neck:It’s maddening for sure! My guess is that Fender wants people to pony up for custom shop for that easy (IMO) option. Very frustrating.
i would love to do that, but just can't seem to find a P neck w/ binding, blocks and dark wood fretboard. not even on aliexpress.Something tells me I'm the ONLY person that puts a P neck on a Jazz body ....![]()
I’ll just throw this out there:
how may P basses have a jazz neck ? Maybe one out of every 5,000? Thats custom shop territory right there.
The 70s p basses with A width necks are very few and far between. Try looking for one for sale right now and you’ll see what I mean.
This is the kind of thing I would do. I'm the sort of person who orders a veggie burger with extra cheese and bacon.Something tells me I'm the ONLY person that puts a P neck on a Jazz body ....![]()
