Fender Modern Player Dimension Bass 2013

Anyone know much about these?

They're obviously completely different to the last Dimension basses Fender put out. They seem to have a 'triplebucker', like the Marauder guitar, and a master volume/5 way pick up selector; front coil only, front/middle, middle coil only, middle/back, back coil only.

Was going to buy a new bass next month, but now considering holding off to try one of these. Same price as the MP Jaguars by the looks of it, so quite a bit cheaper than the MP Jazz & Tele basses.

From a UK site, but it seems like they're up on some US pages too now, though not in stock as yet..

I like how they complemented the single bridge-ward pickup with a Les Paul Junior reminicent swooping pickguard shape - anybody else catch that mini tribute? Regardless I'm happy to say this isn't a gasser for me. Interesting to see, though!

Looks like a Fender-copying-a Gibson-copying-a-Fender.

Exactly. The body shape looks very much inspired by the Gibson Victory, which was Gibson's take on the P-bass.

Almost shows me what my L1000 would look like with a pick guard - they're a bit rounder than a P Bass as is this.

Well the pickup is not in the traditional P sweet spot. Looks cool but I would want a MAPLE board with ivory blocks. Looks like Maple is available on the white. J neck specs. I will look for a used one for $350 down the road.

Hard to tell from pictures, but it looks like it might be located at the same spot as the Ric bridge pickup.
Either way, I'm interested in giving one a go once they come out.

Probably because they won't have to trademark it.

This style is pretty out of vogue at the current moment.

Re pickup style: looks like they are going for the Ibby ATK 3 coil rather than Music Man style.

I dont think they would ever use an exact MM style pickup. That would probably be conceding too much. It does have a bit of the same body style as the Dimension posted. The Fender headstock seems funny on it. It still interesting and refreshing to see them do something different.

Too late. They already use an MM pickup in the reverse Jaguar.

And why is Andertons the only place that seems to know anything about this and the revamped modern player jazz?
