"Standard" means just turn the truss rod with a truss rod tool like normal and there ya go, pretty easy.
"Vintage" means you’ve got a bit of a project on your hands.
i haven’t tried it myself yet, but I have one that needs it done. This vid seems pretty good:
Some people talk about never having removed a neck though (I guess like this guy says, take the PG off and you may be able to sufficiently get a screw driver head on the truss rod end)

OK - I guess my MIJ Mustang is Vintage style then. I had to remove the neck to adjust the rod.
I thought the "Standard' way was like in the video.
Someone here had a small tunnel routed in the body to allow access.
I thought about doing it, but it's held pretty steady since adjusting, in the years I've had it.
My maybe-possibly-shipping-in-a-fortnight shell pink PJ was selected for its class factor, and this looks like something that belongs on a steampunk mad science experiment gone awry. (which would be awesome on NOT a shiny new shell pink bass)
It's a little disconcerting that they don't have a single photo of one actually installed on a bass, though....
Starting already with thinking ahead for mods....
Doing some eyeballing, it just occurred to me that I might not be able to install a vintage-style Mustang bridge on the PJ, due to the position of the J pickup. Womp! Not a big deal and it might unbalance the look of things, though if so, I'd still want to get something like the bridge on my 50s Classic P (ridged saddles), OR go the other direction and get something high-tech.
For pickups, this pickup in the 8K resistance model seems to have gotten praise: KP - Pro Tube "D"- CHROME- Fits Danelectro - Kwikplug™ Ready ... though it remains to be seen what the dimension of the J pickup slot is (I assume Jazz bridge pickup size, but haven't really researched). Gonna look later for the neck pickup & fitting pickguard.
I'm not totally opposed to the 3-way pickup switch, but a friend of mine got a Mustang that was modded with what he called a... 10-way switch? No way, right (no pun intended)? Maybe 5-way?
If I move sooner than later to a pickguard for a vintage-style neck pickup, which I hope is in the same position for easy retrofit, it probably won't have a 3-way switch hole. At that time, I could also consider going stacked Volume/Tone and Blend. Or I saw stacked V/T V/T mentioned, which reminds me of Danelectros. Could be fun.
As for tuners... I have no problem with the standard clover tuning keys, but considering I have two basses with the pre-CBS style (one set actually pre-CBS) reverse clover-style tuners, a little variety doesn't hurt. Are the Hipshot HB-10 tuners a direct-fit replacement? HB10 Bass Tuning Machine [UPDATED] Answer: yes. Invalid Link Removed

Have you read about people doing that? (changing the pickguard so as to put in a traditional Mustang pickup in the P position of a Mustang PJ)
That thought had occurred to me recently as a way of getting a cheaper American Performer-style Mustang (which I’ve been thinking about getting for a fretless conversion, but the AP price is too steep for something I wouldn’t use a ton)
This is a cat in my area I need to be taking lessons from:
He says that MIM Mustang PJ was modded by the prior owner with a 'stang style pickup & cover among other things, so that gives me hope that it's possible. Nothing on if the job was simple or took a luthiership merit badge, though, but I'll ask him.
