I'd love to have one of these for my '66, but have never found one.

Personally, I like the one that’s one there the best with that color and fretboard. Usually I’m not a fan of the white pearloid but sometimes it’s the best fit.
All black or black pearloid might work as well.

I'm starting to work on Weather Report - River People, and decided I want to do it on the Mustang PJ. Since I've still got the stock rounds on, it's got access to the tone... and with the neck pickup rolled back just a bit on the EMG GZR PJ set, I can pluck almost over the bridge pickup without it being too stiff (thanks to shortscale tension...pretty rad in this use) and get a REALLY cool sound to fit the style.

I had to spend all my disposable and some of my essential income on a new computer build (based on the AMD Ryzen 9 3900X, so it should last me), so the Hipshot lollipops are gonna wait a while yet, but the string nut is almost where I want it and everything else is perfection.

Kinda weird that such a little instrument is as heavy as it is, though! It weighs more than my 34" scale 5-string... though that's a SDGR so no surprise it's a feather.

I Just picked up a Fender Mustang PJ in Lake Placid blue with maple fret board (CME exclusive). I tried a couple different sets of short scale round strings that I had around the house, and on all of them the low E was a little wonky when you got near the 12th fret (as they tend to be). But the strings that came on it sounds great, even the low E, all they way up! The seller told me they were the factory strings. The low E is a .105", and they look like long scale strings cut down (no taper). Anyone know what strings ship on these? I'd like to get a spare. I really like them.

7250M nickel-plated steel on the Player PJs, according to Fender's specs. Funny how we all have such different experiences with strings - my low E had a really strong chorus effect, tried straightening it out, witness point at the bridge and nut, lowering pickups, everything I could think of and couldn't eliminate it. Swapped them for a set of .50-.107 Boomers and couldn't be happier with them. Shame, as I really liked the sound on the other 3 strings - glad they're working well for you!

That LPB is beautiful, incidentally, looks great with the black guard. I picked up a Shell Pink model, but I could easily spend thousands collecting all the FSRs. Butterscotch blonde, canary yellow & sherwood green were on my radar, too, and there were those great surf pearl & blacked out models before. Love that Fender are giving some different finishes the nod for this bass.
