Fender Mustang Club

If you want to sell it I might be interested. Always wanted to try one. I would probably stick a Novak bisonic humbucker in there.
Went into one of the local Guitar Denter's this afternoon to check things out. Hanging on the wall was a Squier Mustang in SURF GREEN 
, so natch I had to check it out.
The finish on this bass was very good, IMO. Of course, it has a glossy neck which some people like and some don't. It felt very good though and there wasn't any fret sprout like there is on my MIM Fender Mustang PJ.
The action was a mile high, but that can be adjusted easily enough.
The only flaws I saw were an extra hole in the headstock for a 2nd string tree.
Not sure why that was there. And, there was a big crack in the finish right at the neck pocket that extended all the way onto the back of the body. 
That was the longest finish crack I had ever seen on a new instrument.
I didn't bother to plug it in as I had to meet with someone for a Facebook Marketplace sale, but it sure seemed like a nice bass**, even at $400.

Really minor thing, but does anyone know of any nickel finish control plates being made out there?
Chrome ones (and vintage or relic'd ones) abound, but since I'm going nickel for the bridge and tuners, it'd be sweet to match the plate. Fwiw, I think the nickel looks awesome on the shell pink, clean but also instantly a bit aged. Thanks y'all

Either QC is crap on those, or they're dumping some rejects at GC. The one at my local GC had QC issues too.

I believe that's the exact same pickguard that I got for my buttercream Mustang PJ.
I was also thinking of putting a cream-colored DiMarzio DP 126 PJ pickup set in mine and swapping out the knobs and switch cover with cream-colored ones. Or maybe eliminating the switch altogether and reworking the electronics entirely.
Is that the DiMarzio DP 126 PJ set in yours? If so how do you like them?

The MIJ Mustang was my first Mustang shortly after they became available. I still have it and I still like the neck.
Where are you guys getting your tort guards for the current MIM PJ Mustangs? Could you please provide a link?

Hi all, Wel looks like I am back. I just recently obtained a Mustang PJ body. In my travels I received a V-Mod Precision split coil and I just so happen to have the jazz pickup from my previous Mustang PJ which happens to be a American Standard bridge pickup. Also I happen to have a set of Bourne Audio Taper pots that are interchangeable. Just need to find a VVT 4 hole control plate that will fit because I do not want to deal with that stupid 3 way switch. Unfortunately my RA won't allow me to use a stacked system. Then it will be neck search time as I already have a set of Gotoh GB707's in the propper peg size. I also happen to have 2 Hipshot Kickass K500N high mass bridges so shall it be silver or black? This is a Player PJ body in a natural finish. The only other that was available was in that "Mint" color and that just wouldn't do. I am not familiar with the Player series but I hear they are adequate. So I will be around again. With my education and training the noob questions will be kept to a minimum. The V-Mod split coil came out of a 2018 American Professional Precision that was replaced with a Bartolini 8S Classic Pickup. It is essentially brand new. For those who are not familiar with me 4 years ago I modified a 2017 Mustang PJ to the point all that was left that was Fender was the wood. As soon as items arrive I will provide pics. The only question is as this will essentially a Fenderstein Mustang PJ will it be accepted? Well all have a great day and be safe and well. ;[

Also changed the plastic knobs for metal ones painted black.
The olympic white has a bit of yellow in it that doesn't show well in this picture.
Thank you for the kind "Welcome Back". In this age of social isolation one does not hear that often.
As this is a ground up build there is a lot to consider and plan for. In my experience some fall through the cracks.
My first issue on pre-planning is the neck. A while back I had noticed that there were a number of sources for replacement necks for this instrument ranging from questionable generics all the way up to Fender it self. Now there are very few other than the well known names of Warmoth, WD, and the manufacturer. I am not opposed to installing a Fender neck if that is the only option. My question is are there any 3rd party replacement necks available within a reasonable cost range.(lets use $100 to $175 as a hypothetical range)
My other idea I lacked on considering is the control plate. My idea is to use the new Bournes interchangeable audio taper pots making it a VVT system and removing the need of a 3 way switch. That requires a 4 hole control plate. Is there such a animal and if so where? The control plate for this bass is unique in size and shape. Now these are mini pots so there will be more room to work with than if they were standard size. If there is no such pre-made annimule I could use a blank and drill the holes my self. But again that begs the question of who and/or where.
So any input and/or info would be greatly appreciated.
Just fyi due to my RA and varying degrees of numbness and paralysis in my left hand I am unable to utilize a stacked system.
