I got one of the rare ones they "found" a few years back. Anderton's in the UK said they only got 5 and I couldn't find a US dealer that had them. I love mine, but mostly play guitar now so it doesn't get as much attention.

I think I've discovered why my MIM Mustang PJ makes so much noise when I'm not touching the strings, even when the volume is all the way down. The output jack is NOT grounded! 
Man, that's going to extremes to cut costs, IMO.
Also, at one time Mexican Standards used to have the same CTS pots that their American counterparts had. Now they have some no name pots from Korea.
I think I'm going to have to do something about that!

Mine had no conductive shielding paint and the Jin Sung pots from Korea. Upgraded to the CTS, shielded all compartments and ran a ground to cavity from volume pot. Well I went ahead and bit the bullet and bought a Fender Player Mustang PJ neck. It is from Stratosphere as they were the only one that had any. It will be here next week. So that issue is resolved. Still working on the control plate. An interesting thing occurred during my searches for a control plate. I was scanning through Google Images and what picture do I come across, but My Mustang PJ that I donated to a charity here called Girls Rock Reno. I not only found it once but twice. Not quite sure how it got there but it was a proud 5 seconds. I will go ahead and post the picture but keep in mind it now belongs to a sweet 12 year old girl who's in heaven. How do I know? The charity helped her call me so she could personally give her thanks. (Kinda choked up this crusty old sailor.)

Good for you! THat's a wonderful gift that I'm sure will encourage her to learn. Nicely modified as well. BTW, I think the Player Mustangs are just the same Offset series like the one you gave away. I don't notice any differences.
I have been searching for one of these necks through stratosphere and have not been able to find one. I have been patiently waiting. How did you find it?

Those are full size Grover vintage tuners, Seymour Duncan 1/4 pound PJ set, Hipshot K500N High Mass bridge, Pickguard Planet custom pickguard, Schaller Strap locks, 920D Treble Bleed harness, Fender Vintage control knobs, and a switch craft 4 point out put jack. Oh and of course a Heavy duty short shaft Switch Craft 3 way switch. (Welcome to the dept of redundancy dept).
Not sure if you wanted to know all that but it was a true labor of love. If it makes a new Tal Wilkenfeld then the donation was worth it.

Belive it or not it was on Ebay.
Also check Reverb. Stratosphere lists a lot of things on both of those sites that are not on their own. I found the body on Reverb.

My sonic blue (almost olympic white) MIM Mustang PJ is currently in the shop, also known as my spare bedroom, for a little makeover.
I tried to get a few good clear shots of the frets and fret ends, but my lack of photography skills combined with a point and shoot weren't going to have it. So I posted the best of what I have.
Today I wasn't up for any tedious soldering due to having a headache all day, but I did manage to polish the frets and tame the fret ends a bit on the underside of the neck. No need to do so on the top of the neck as my hand never touches it. To tame the fret ends I carefully used a file. To polish the frets I used 400 grit emery cloth followed by 1200 grit. Then I finished up with 0000 steel wool. The fretboard was taped off with painter's tape while doing all of this. Then the fretboard was treated with Dunlop lemon oil.
The goal is to have a VVT configuration with DiMarzio DP251BK Area PJ pickups, new CTS pots, a CTS no-load tone control, Sprague .047uF orange drop cap, a Switchcraft jack, copper shielding in the control cavity and a buff and polish. I may also get some dice knobs or something a little snazzy. The wire I'm using is military grade, Teflon coated, silver plated copper. Good stuff from Area 51!

Just curious. Have you given any thoughts to the Bournes or CTS audio taper pots. They are inter-changeable and there is no need for the capacitor. Just wondering.

No I haven't. All 3 pots in this bass will be CTS audio taper. The tone pot is a typical Fender 250k no-load pot. The other two are 525k audio taper pots with a 5% tolerance from some outfit called The Art Of Tone. They actually cost less than standard Fender CTS pots, so I thought I'd give them a try.
I was looking at some Bournes mini-pots the other day for a Squier Jaguar project where the space in the control cavity is very cramped, but I've not used Bournes before.
I have used the Bournes mini audio pots in a couple of mods in another Fender model and they worked well. When you are my age and have my hands any less soldering is a good thing. LOL

Yes these are DP 126, I originally wanted to run the wiring with the 3 way switch and didn’t like how it turned out so I made room for a side jack. I’ll get a replacement pick guard eventually. As for the pick ups, they sound great. My uncle told me before I bought them he had put them in a Hondo bass back in the ‘70s and it ripped.
Well things are moving forward. I received the Player Mustang PJ body, installed the V-Mod split coil left over from a upgrade, lengthening the Bridge pickup wiring as it was cut a bit too short from when my previous mustang was upgraded, received the control plate and need to add a fourth hole for a second volume control, received the 3 Bournes Audio taper mini pots and need to wire them in. I receive the neck today and will upgrade the tuners to Gotoh GB707's. Still waiting on the pickguard.
