D'Addario short scale Chromes and short scale nylon tapewound strings fit my Mikro perfectly.

Come to think of it, I believe that I have read someone posting that on TB in the past.

And, I briefly owned a Mikro, and IIRC, I ordered and put the same model of GHS Brite flats on it as my Gibson currently has, and they fit, then resold it with them still on it, so I stand corrected.

But the folks with the Squier Mini-P basses are definitely having issues, if they do not want the fully wound portion to continue around the tuner post, even with shorter wrapped brands than GHS, such as your D'Addario examples.

Mikros must have more distance between the nut and the E tuner than a Squier Mini-P, and maybe also more behind the bridge saddles.

Ya, after our last posts, I checked out some pics, and it looks like the Ibanez Mikro AND the Jackson Minion each have more space there than the Squier Mini-P does, so the string brands which we each mentioned ought to properly fit both.

Had the chance to play my new American Performer Mustang out at a rehearsal last night (also played my new Ric). Wow, quite impressed with the mustang. I really didn't expect it to punch through like the Ric, but it sounded great....and sooooo easy to play.

I really like the jazz/mustang pup combo on the mustang....and no issues with the greasebucket circuit. Seemed to work well, although I kept both pickups mostly wide open and tone just backed off a notch.

I strung the mustang with medium scale d'Addario Chromes and it really is the easiest playing bass I've ever had.....and I've owned LOTS of short scale basses over the years including a MIJ, JMJ, PJ, vintage mustangs and this is tops of them all.

Looks like a Musicmaster with a swapped out bridge and pickup. Definitely not stock. Mustangs have a different pick guard and a string-through bridge.

Ah yes.Good catch. That's what it is....a Musicmaster.

Chris Frantz posted this pic yesterday of his wife Tina Weymouth (Tina Tuesday as he calls it) with one of her Mustangs and from the looks, this one had an added neck pickup (musicmaster pup?). Not seen this mod on any other Mustang though as most seem to go with addition of a bridge pup if anything like what Fender has been selling of late.

What's everyone's go to flats for the Mustang? I really can't play rounds anymore due to a skin condition that seems to be getting worse. I don't need much clarify - I prefer dull thump.

I just ordered one from Sweetwater. Really excited about it. I’ve pretty much watched every YouTube video with headphones. I was watching Sweetwater for a while and ordered a very light one at 7Lbs 7oz!

Could anyone recommend a good gig bag? The fender short scale gig bag doesn’t seem like a protective enough bag to me.

Go with the Gator ProGo guitar bag. There is a pad at the bottom, that when you remove is a perfect fit for a Mustang. It is a very well padded bag and will protect much better than a generic gig bag.
