About to drop DMarzio Relentless and Model J into my Mustang PJ. Should I mod the pot to support serial/parallel or any other trick wiring or push pull pot mod?

Medium scale D'Addario chromes for me. Been using them for 10+ years on my Mustangs. They're a bit bright when new, but fine once broken in.

On my Mustang P/Js with the top-load bridge I switched from shortscale Chromes to D'Addario nylon tapewounds for a thumpier tone. On my Mustang MIJ with the strings through body bridge I use the medium scale D'Addario nylon tapewounds.
I tried Labellas flats and nylon tapes but found them too thuddy for my taste.
That is seriously awesome @J. Crawford. Nice bridge mod. Is everything else stock? I want a pink bass, GASsing for a Sire V7 accordingly. FWIW Jamal Crawford is my fave recent NBA player, crossover is so fun to watch.
Everything else is stock, but I've got a tort pickguard in the mail currently so not for long! It's definitely a fan favorite among my friends and instagram. Pink seems to be popular among non-musicians.
Speaking of tort, here she is. Absolutely love it.
Heres my special edition black out Mustang. Due to age, injuries and a rowdy lifestyle back in the day I now have arthritis pretty bad in my my hands. (5 surgeries on the left, 1 on the right. 4 more to go still) After each surgery I have to start back on an Ibanez Mikro then work my way back up in scale length. This has been a great bass to play for comfortably for me. I still pull out my other basses to play. But after a few songs either my hand or back says enough! I'm not usually fond of tort, but it looks great against the pink, AND the Maple fretboard.
The only negative [for me, anyway] is that IIRC, this model of Mustang [and IIRC any other current ones with Maple fretboard] have the narrow nut [1.5"]width, same as a Jazz would.
I'm flexible about the pickups/electronics, as I could always change that later, if I thought I needed to.

They produce a lot of "thump!" LaBella makes several variations on a theme for their strings. The ones I linked are for top-loaders. There are a few different gauges as well - extra light, light, standard, medium.
On the other 'Stang PJ I have Dunlop Stainless Flats (45-105 DBFS45105S). They're probably my favorite of the ones I've tried. Unfortunately, their price has shot way up so they're no longer economically friendly.
I've also tried LaBella Low Tension Flats and Chromes.

My friend came over today and brought his 1970 Competition red to compare it to my newly aqcuired 1973 Competion blue. His features a slightly chunkier neck than mine. Width is the same, but just a little more meat. I wasn’t aware there were different neck profiles on Mustang basses over the years. Neat. The white one is a 2011 Japanstang with Nordstrand pickup. Today was a good day!

AFAIK, Mustang basses never had body contours. I'm also a slab body SCPB fan so it's one of the things I really like about the Mustang.

Yes, the competition models do have contours. The Made in Japan does not. The first generation Mustang basses were slab bodies, up untill 1969 i think. Then with the competition models the contours were added. I think it’s much more comfortable to play with the contours. It also makes the body even lighter.
Thanks, I didn't know that about the competition version having contours since I'm only familiar with early Mustangs and the recent slab versions.
Years ago I special ordered a aftermarket Mustang body with contours for my MIJ Mustang made of Paulownia to get the lightest body possible and it certainly did that but my right arm still prefers the slab.

Really? That’s funny. I feel the opposite, a slab body seems to fatigue my right arm alot, especially when playing sitting down. It’s the reason i don’t pick the MIJ up as much for practicing. But i do love the look of slab.
Yes, really. I mostly pluck up by the neck and the slab sided waist area gives my right arm excellent support playing standing or seated and puts my hand in the proper relaxed position for me.
