Well, this is interesting. I just went to check again, and the relief was a whopping .025"! (That's in standard EADG tuning, capo at first fret, fretting at 17th fret, and sliding in a feeler gauge at the 7th fret.) Sighting down the neck, it was a banana. Then, for the heck of it, I slacked off the strings a whole turn, and checked the truss rod again -- and it turned! I tightened it, and it won't turn any further. It's now back to .012" (measured the same way, of course).
So, what changed, so that one morning the relief was suddenly higher? Well, the only thing I'm aware of was that I had started running my humidifier in the room where I keep my basses the night before, set to maintain 55% humidity. (I'm in southern Arizona where it is VERY dry.) The increased humidity should allow the wood of the neck to stiffen naturally. Would it also make the truss rod looser, though? Puzzled.

May I join and receive a number please? I used to have a 2000s era cream coloured Mustang with tort guard. it got traded. Jan 1 this year, I got a gold mist Fender P+J Mustang.

Nope. Just had D'Addario tapewounds on that one, and they got along just fine.
Fortunately, the AM seems to be getting along with the LaBellas now. I'm not sure what happened, but I'm glad it's worked out OK!
OK... here are my initial impressions. Had a chance to plug in and play a bit with the new Mustang arrival tonight. All I can say is: WOW! It really exceeded my expectations. Beautiful instrument, fast neck, feels really light but solid at the same time. Great tone and sustain.
Fret board has no sharp edges, plays and sounds great. The most $$$ I've paid for a bass so far, but really feels like a pro instrument. Love the maple fret board.
Already plan to swap strings for Diaddario chromes and replace bridge with Hipshot kickass.
The only issue I really have is: slight neck dive. Totally anticipated based on what others have talked about. I have a wide Neo strap, and that helps some, but still not balancing perfectly. The hipshot bridge I've got feels pretty heavy in the box, so I'm hoping that helps a bit once installed. (not sure how that weight compares with the stock bridge)
If I have to go with the Hipshot ultralite tuner to correct the balance, do I need 3/8 or 1/2? Also- is there a difference in the USA version or licensed Hipshot version?
I will be turning over any mods to my luthier but want to make sure I order the right parts.

@Tex Bass Congrats, she's a beaut! I agree both ways: the neck's profile is different (from any bass I've owned) but holds the thumb well, and the maple they use is really gorgeous. And being sealed = no worry about keeping it oiled.
I dropped a Hipshot Kickass bridge on pronto, so while I don't know if it helped meaningfully to ameliorate neck dive, I can say it weighs a chunk more. The stock one is slim, even with the solid saddles... and while it's fine, being able to tweak your at-bridge string width is a huge boon. Also, if you find (or your luthier finds) that getting intonation is tough, Hipshot can supply shorter screws for you. They rock.
As for the tuners, I just grabbed one of my stock ones to measure, and it's looking like 1/2" shaft diameter. Also: the licensed ones are basically knockoffs renting the name. You want the pricier, but much superior, Hipshot USA ones.

Well, these basses were purchased 5 months apart but I'm catching up on things at Talkbass. The pandemic stifled my desire to play (alone) but didn't extinguish my buy/sell/swap urges at all. I've moved 2 amps and 3 basses so far this year. People are just starting to talk about playing together again and I think most will agree that they can't wait for that day to come. I have 3 projects to resume with other folks.

The USA built tuners also weigh slightly less, AND, if you ever wish to put them on a 2+2 headstock or a lefty bass, they are reversible.

I know that feeling.
Sold/traded off 7 cabs and bought/traded-to-get 5 basses, since the start of the plague.
Also scored one bass head and a combo lead amp, neither of which I needed, and a tiny 15 watt combo practice bass amp, which I soon might.
Plus bought 1 further cab which I do/will need, and most recently a short scale neck, planning to mod 1 of those 5 basses.
The lead amp, I resold locally.
All of these pandemic purchase deals involved only used gear, and in all fairness, the liquidation of the cabs was something which I had planned to do anyway, to free up space at home, a minor portion of which ironically went to the 5 added basses.
I've not yet done a spreadsheet to track this group of transactions, but am pretty sure that overall, it required me to put in SOME new cash.
I have an Avatar SB112 cabinet remaining to unload, and anyone living not too far from Ottawa [Eastern Ontario-ish] might want to contact me.
It sounds great, but, like most of those other 7 cabs, weighs more than this old geezer's back ought to risk lifting and carrying anymore.
