Here's my customized American Performer Mustang. I bought it back in the spring, and just finished customizing it. The customizations include a walnut nitro finish, a Spitfire pickguard (Vintage Burgundy/Bright Red mix), Hipshot lollipop tuners, a bone nut, and mother of pearl dots. (It was originally sunburst poly with a white pearloid guard.)

I actually was able to remove the stock white plastic dots and insert the mother of pearl dots myself. It's a bit nerve-wracking, but not as difficult as you might imagine. The dots don't really show up in these low-light indoor photos, but they look good in person.

Just wanted to reply to this and say that I love the mods you've done to it! Once I sort out some other gear things I want to get around to modding my American Performer too. Your photos are top notch as well, for all of your basses.

How are you liking the nitro refin? I'd like to do that to mine but just don't have the expertise/confidence to do it to an american instrument. Plus, I quite like the colour as it is and don't enjoy the environmental effects that it would have (I know, individuals cause infinitely less harm than big corporations, but I still feel bad about it). I just like how they wear naturally.

Oh, and some sites have lots of options, although you may need to trace your pickguard. That’s what I did for this one.

Thanks, I did a few pickguard tracings on paper to get a feel for what would look good and whilst I am in no way proud of my lacking artistic skills it enabled me to ascertain that red is probably going to look best

Your artistic skills are far superior to mine, although I can draw mean lines with a straight edge.

I still like the purple, but you need to go with what YOU like.

I like the red one. But I strongly prefer the original PG, or a nice pearloid like the AP.

I recently upgraded the PG on my red Bronco to gray pearl, looks great now. Was considering tortoise for a change on the Pawn Shop Mustang, but is very difficult to find a PG for it.

That's the kind of Mustang which I would like to own !

And a Maple fretboard.

Does this one have the fretboard and neck as one piece of wood ?

Would need a side view of the neck to tell better, after you receive it.
