#18 giggrafixJust picked up this beauty and and after a pickguard change out , I love it!
I ordered mine for WD Music. It fit perfectly.Another pickguard swap on a PJ Mustang! The black looks nice on the white bass. Very much like a modern Mustang bass.
I ordered a white pearloid pickguard for my Mustang, though I'm getting attached to the one I made for it. I just think WD Music can do a better job. I considered their 'aged pearl' colour, which is yellower, but I figured it might make my bass like white. The purer white of the pearloid pickguard on my bass makes the green/blue snap a bit. However I was jamming under different lighting yesterday and my bass looked white to white-grey. Fender messed up getting 'aged sonic blue' right, but they devised quite a nice colour in doing so.
I'm also rolling my own mirror pickguard for my Mustang, though this is a slow job. I'm using acrylic/perspex mirror stock. The Mustang pickguard fits onto an A4 sheet, so it is relatively cheap and easy to buy 3mm plastic sheets online of various colours from which to make more pickguards if the need arises.
Woah that looks cool!!!
Why did you put the P/J neck on it? Was the original messed up some how? I know my reissue neck is way nicer to play than the my P/J.

#21 jbass bobView attachment 2924246 Haven't posted in eons but have to share. I couldn't pass up the $399 deal. Needed to personalize it with a black pickguard from WD and change out the bridge to a vintage threaded version as the strings on most of these seem off on the E side. This is one of the best sounding basses I've ever had. Just needs shielding and a few fret ends worked on. Definitely a keeper![]()
bought the loaded body for a song. no idea what happened to the neck it shipped with.
Interesting...I recall seeing a recent post on EB or CL selling a new, surf pearl, loaded body (no neck) and thought that was strange. I just googled Mustang bodies and Mustang PJ bodies and came up with a number of suppliers, including Warmoth and Stratosphere, some stating "Pawn Shop"...like I said...interesting.
