I guess one person's "ordinary boring" is another's "classic."Don't buy the ordinary boring looking one, spend the extra money.

Hi all,
It's time to buy a Fender P Bass and I have two models to choose from. The standard Fender P bass with Alder body/maple fingerboard and the limited edition P bass with Alder body/ebony fingerboard. Both basses are MIM and have the same hardware. Both are equiped with Player Series Alnico 5 Split Single-Coil Precision Bass®
There is a price difference between those two, with the latter being 140 euros more expensive.
Is it a big difference between these materials? Should I pay the extra money for the limited edition or just save the bucks for a hard case? Should I prefer the limited bass just because it's limited? I haven't tried the limited edition yet since it's in another city.
Looking forward to hear your opinions. Thank you all in advance!
They both look great.Too bad you can’t swap necks.
They will all play the same and sound virtually identical, so get the one you like. A word of advice, though - if you want the Ebony Limited Edition you should move quickly, because it’s - well - in limited supply, and won’t be around forever. It was introduced late last year, and is sold out in many places by now.Thank you all for the replies and feedback! You gave me some valuable info and food for thought about the maple - ebony issue. Just for the record, I like them both. The black's badass look as well as the sunburst's classic look...maybe without the pickguard.
A third option would be the 3 color sunburst with Pau Ferro fretboard which has the same price as the maple. Any considerations about this?
Anyway... I will delay my purchase for some time. I think I need it.![]()
Thank you all again!
