Fender Player Precision - what color?

Personally I'd go for Buttercream with a rosewood/Pao ferro fingerboard and I'd add a Tort guard.

I voted for Tidepool, but I would go with Buttercream if it had a Black pickguard as a 2nd choice

I've played a Capri orange one in a music store, it really looks great in person. Tort guard would be awesome on it!
I have a jazz with that color combo and it is a real looker!

Just can't get use to the pau ferro yet. I even had a hand made bass
with it. Keep the maple on the buttercream.

I love the Buttercream and the orange. I have a Vintage White MIJ E-Series ('84-'87) Precision that is one of my favorite all-time basses. To my eye, the Vintage White and the Buttercream look identical.

Barring catastrophe, I'll never part with it. I think it looks great with the maple board. And it's one of those colors that looks great with a white pickguard, IMO. I've toyed with the idea of getting one of these Buttercream "Players" in a Jazz Bass so that I'd have matching "cousins".

This first pic (with the Jazz) was a comedy pic I took one time when my wife was out of town. I sent her this pic and said, "Don't worry. I'm taking good care of the babies..."

I like the tidepool color. But I also liked all the teals that builders were using in the 90s, and now those all look like "90s colors." I do wonder if tidepool will come off dated later on. Classy though.

From my perspective, I don't think I would be able to identify any difference in the sound between different fingerboard materials. I doubt if anyone would
But from an aesthetic point of view, I think I prefer maple, especially with the Buttercream model.

I have always rolled my eyes when someone talks about the 'sound' of a fretboard. The guitar strings do not touch the fretboard so how could it affect the sound? I hate maple necks because they show the dirt.

Carrots. Because there aren't enough orange basses in the world and they look great! The one on the left is Candy Tangerine.

My priority would be to pick a fingerboard first. Maple is expected to sound a little brighter and snappier.

• Between the maple basses, I like the blue one.
• Between the pau ferro basses, there aren't too many choices.

I like the Buttercream. It comes with a Maple Fingerboard only. No other options. And, yes, Maple fingerboards do sound brighter and snappier than rosewood or Pau Ferro. I demoed two American Performer P-Basses when I bought mine. One Maple. One Rosewood. The Maple one, won hands down. It sounded better, played better and looked better. Buttercream looks amazing with a Maple fingerboard!
