I bought a MIJ '62 RI in Candy Apple Red from Ishibashi in Shibuys in '91. It was a great bass, but I traded it for a fretless Warwick in '99. I was after a more modern sound back then. I've since found an 87 MIJ '62 J that is a killer.

So, what do you plan on doing with all this data regarding Fender?

So, what do you plan on doing with all this data regarding Fender?

Nothing at all. It seems to have sparked a (mostly) fun and somewhat interesting conversation though. I have no "agenda" if that's what you're asking. Fender is the 400 pound gorilla in the room of virtually every bass guitar conversation (love 'em or hate 'em). So I find getting a bead on what people think about them (markert wise) interesting.

I hear ya but I would disagree that Fender in the 400lb gorilla in the room. There’s nothing awkward or uncomfortable about Fender at all. They’re the industry standard that is universally recognized the world over for its inventions.

I just meant you almost can't find a conversation where Fender doesn't come into play. You can't avoid them even if you want to.
