Fender pre-CBS Club: pics mandatory!

Well…. they match well on tonal and playability levels. Both are great player basses which is what I was after. It’s not as easy as it may seem. Both have very minimal fret issues, trusses works, no fret dresses, etc.
I can get the action way down on both before something buzzes. They are both great examples of P and J bass tones …..similar wear. Both capped boards. They are very compatible on a high level.

Breaking in a new set of GHS Precision flats, really like these strings on this bass.

Haven’t tried those. I have five Precision basses currently, all wearing flats but this is my first time trying GHS Precision flats. Only been about a week but I’m liking them a lot so far.

I went with the Ernie B's because I read that they were among the brightest sounding flats. I do a lot of fret board tapping and wanted something that would be good for that. I normally put Rotosound 66s on my basses because they are bright and good for tapping.

New Bass Day. I've been in the market for a gold guard Precision to complement my '64 for a while now. I finally found it in this all original 1958 model, thanks to the Guitar Broker. My guy just set it up today and it plays great and sounds AMAZING. I couldn't be happier.

The pic is from the Guitar Broker. I haven't taken any good pics of my own since I got it. The neck is unusually flamey, which is super cool.

I'll post some more pics once I do a photo shoot with his younger brother.

Congratulations!! I was watching that bass. I just picked up a nice ‘54. There’s nothing like the old stuff!

Best sounding P-bass I’ve ever played was a ‘58 that belongs to an old friend. But he hardly plays it, he’s a jazz musician and prefers his upright.

Congratulations! That's an amazing neck and love how that burst has faded just a bit to blend nicely.

Here is my dad's baby that I just bought back from a local collector who had it under his bed. It's a 1964 Fender Jazz Bass in rare Gold Sparkle. It was my dad's main bass until he traded it for a 1968 Telecaster bass (which I also have). The first picture is with my dad in 1968 shortly before the trade. It's something I'll treasure and pass on to my kids!! Can I get a number??

Dannnnnnng, don’t see that every day! Look at the wear on the back of the neck, your dad really loved that bass. I wish I could find these collectors in my area!
