I had Gord Miller at GM Vintage Restorations redo the finish on my '64P. He did his usual stellar job.

Gord has previously done my 60 Jazz and 62 P (pics are in this thread somewhere I believe), and I can report that after the finishes had fully cured, both basses sounded noticeably better than before.
If that happens with this bass, and I expect it will, I will be REALLY happy as it's already one of the best sounding Ps I've ever played.

Gord is amazing at nailing Fender 2, 2.5, and 3 tone bursts.
This is the GM refin '60 Jazz next to my original '60 P. Other than the J being a bit glossy, the colours are spot on. Not easy to do!

That's a 212AV, 4 ohm. But I hear SVTs run 8 ohms without any trouble. Never tried but that's what I read on TB.

Thanks! That is a C neck. Saddles were replaced by a previous owner. Havent bothered to get vintage looking ones.

Perhaps a stupid question.
Does a databank exist where vintage basses are registered with current owner, serial nr, pics, history etc?

When not, it should be for the future.
To prevent fraud, for insurance etc.

Or is that a silly idea?

I took some pics of my '59 yesterday to put up on Instagram (davelowebass). I'm still loving it after all these years (since I bought it in a pawn shop in North Dakota in '75). It features a wonderful restoration done by Ben Lindsey. It was trashed when I bought it. Unplayable and totally beat up. I put a '73 maple neck on it and gigged it at hundreds of gigs.

In 2009 I got the bug to do a period correct restoration, and was surprised to find out that the '69 P-Bass I bought form the pawn shop was actually a '59! I had Ben do a neck restoration on this unplayable neck in 2010. Then a few years ago he did some major bodywork, took it down to the wood, filled routs, and then did a beautiful light relic Fiesta Red paint job. Lots more to the story - well documented here on TB. Reversing P-J Mod???

It now sports a Klein Epic '59 pickup, and a Luxe PIO (paper in oil) 58-62 accurate reproduction 'chicklet'capacitor. Neck is the best I've ever played. It sports light gauge Sadowsky Blue Label Flatwounds. It is an awesome player! (and sounds amazing... sustains like crazy if needed)
