Hello guys, that's my all-original 1961 Fender Precision bass. I bought her from Rumble Seat Music in Carmel in 2014. I have been told this bass belonged to Eliot Michael's private collection and, when he purchased her from her previous and only owner (who lived in Albuquerque, NM), she was DEAD MINT. One day Eliot was hanging out with his pal Johnny Depp, who saw this bass and decided to rent her for a tournée. After a while, he returned her to Eliot with some dings and scratches, he decided to sell her and finally she got to my home. I guess it is a true story, since I learned it after the sale... She is a fantastic player with an impressive, velvety low end and I can't even think to go to the studio without her.

Wonderful to hear the backstory on such a classic.
Gives an otherwise inanimate object human characteristic and a soul.

What's that white plastic thingy under the bridge cover?

The foam under the ashtray is still in tact and I want to play the bass once in a while, but I don't want to foam in interfere so I had this acrylic 'spacer' cut out and screwed it under the ashtray. Since the acrylic is quite soft it won't damage the pain and I can just keep it mounted, but looking I should've had it made with transparent material instead...

Original neck? Roasted with skunk stripe. No strap button . Never seen a 60 year old bass looking like it just came from the factory. Immaculate congrats

My ‘59 is now also 60. Quite the mile marker! Also still in regular rotation.

Here's a beautiful example of a 1960 Jazz bass, all original, on Reverb (no affiliation). It is so choice, if you have the $32k plus $150 shipping, I highly recommend picking one up.

I guess the colour has to do with the way I adjusted my images, it's not a roasted neck, but it does show some flames when viewed from certain angles.
