Now THAT'S more like it! :bassist:

in a fist fight (or what ever basses would use for physical confrentation) the p bass would work the j bass. i mean its beefier, the thicker neck has to account for something, pluys come on almost every punk rocker owns one and puts it through massive abuse. the js dont really see that side of things. there like the private school kid when compaired to the hardend p bass

Props to meta for attempting to put this thread back on the tracks, but.... it's too late!

Soverntear has some good points! The P-Bass is arguably beefier, but don't discount the Jazz'es 'faster' lines and contoured profile. I see many of the P's blows being deflected...

thats a giood point, a couple quick hits in the right places and the p would go down. but the p get ahold of little j and j is done :P

Yeah, the P-Bass punches can be deflected by the sleek contours of the J-Bass, but if the P-Bass lands a righteous one...my oh my, let´s say the skinny neck of the J-Bass isn´t going to help, unless it´s a 3-Bolt, then the natural movement of the neck at the heel can help to dampen the punch...wait, what i´m i talking about? Fenders fighting? SHAME ON YOU OP!!! :ninja:

In my opinion, Fender basses are among the best sounding, highest quality instruments known to man and are without dought some of the most widely played basses in the world. Both instruments are tonally versitle as well as musically(genre).

The P-Bass has a very comfortable feel, clean punchy growl, and thick neck. The Jazz has many tones, bright, warm, and punchy where it needs it, and the thinner neck is pretty comfortable. Both have a nice weight and unique look to them.

I'm curious as to which is better? Which bass to players like better and why?

the Jazz is better

no, carrots are better

Jazz Carrots.. they're the best

I recommend a Fender Jazz Carrot with a big 'Search' button on it

Highest quality instruments known to man?? I'm not a hater at all - I love Fender - but that's a bit of a stretch. :p

What's in your coffee this morning? And where can I get some? ;)

(Oh and BTW I call it a tie...)

we have had some good points for both of them. the 3 bolt neck theory is a good one to think about. we also have to consider what basses are fighting. p vs j in general or are we talking a 77 p vs a 94 j or something to that effect? becuase model changes weight, setup, electronics, age and all that which i belive would have a huge impact on the fight
