we have had some good points for both of them. the 3 bolt neck theory is a good one to think about. we also have to consider what basses are fighting. p vs j in general or are we talking a 77 p vs a 94 j or something to that effect? becuase model changes weight, setup, electronics, age and all that which i belive would have a huge impact on the fight

you guys all make some good points on who would win. Frankly i'm a jazz bass guy but in good conscience I can't vote for the jazz. In a fight the P would own the jazz. Beefier neck, no offset contoured body, and don't forget the P-bass has that unmistakable Mid-punch its so famous for. :o

But the Jazz does have a better Slap! ;)
 
yeah slapping is just a sissy move...... or a move to show you have no respect for the others fighting ability's. tbh ive always seen the j to be the high strung cousin of the p so it makes sence he would think less of mr p and be forced to slap
