I knew this was coming, but man it sure is no fun. The Geddy lists for $1530.00 and the Sting Signature model lists for $1290.00. I'm glad I got mine already. If I just could have grabbed a Jaguar 4 string before the increases.

Fender price increases = Yucky

I love me some Fender and all, but if all these price increases during this economic struggle are just silly. Lakland should drop thier skylines by hundred bucks and start distributing them all over.
just so you know, fenders list price is approx 30% higher than anyone actually sells them for. for proof, look at any instrument on gutarcenter.com, or any other website that sells basses. there is a list price, and a selling price. the list is always MUCH higher.. its a sales tactic.
I don't often do this, but do a search. There are several threads about this already. I have seen 3 in the past week alone.

Yeah but they have raised thier list prices. Some websites are already selling the Geddy Lee for upwards of $1200. These were like $700 a couple of years ago. BOOOOOOOOOOOO Fender price increase.

and prices going up during a recession is all to common. think about it. the more units you sell, the less you can charge for each, and still make the same profit. when you sell less units, such as during a recession, each one of the units must carry a higher percentage of the total profit. so yes, its totally normal to raise prices during a recession. same thing happens with food, and gas, and energy, and almost every other commodity. save for exceptional sales around christmastime, which are designed to exhaust stocpiles saved up for the holiday rush.
Just so you know, "Where goes the list price, so goes the sale price''.
That would be up in this case.
I'd like to see more stores that advertise to be Lakland dealers actually have some Laklands in stock! That would be a start. :scowl:

There aren't any back home in the Falls.
The closest we've got is either Buffalo, or make your way up to Club Bass in Toronto.
There are SLIM chances of Long and McQuade having them.

I see some still advetised at $749, but the new street price looks like it's going to be around $929 by what I've seen.
Biggest example of price increase I've seen here (Montreal, Canada) is w/the Mustang bass.
It's gone from $579 (october) to 669 (January) to $969. This is the actual price at Archambault (local retailer.)
I love my Mustang (bought used a few years ago) but $1K? Absurd.
We'll see if this strategy pays off for Fender... I'm guessing no.

simple solution: Buy used. Prices for many used fenders are going DOWN because folks can't pay rent. Sad but true.
these threads = starting to get annoying.
no disrespect but im pretty sure everyone and their grandmother is already aware of the fender price increases here on tb. We are all angry/saddened by this(at least us fender people) but its a move that fender sees fit to make and we shall see what comes of it. This discussion is getting redundant.
