Fender price increases = Yucky

Guys, the price increase mentioned at the top was OVER FOUR YEARS AGO.

Well good, that gives us a chance to look at what's happened since then. FMIC is still #1 but they're in some financial trouble. Guess the OP was right.

If Fender is having financial woes,then IMHO, the VERY last thing the should do is:

(a) Lower their prices, or at the VERY least, keep 'em the same.

(b) Gee, I feel so, so proud to come up with this idea/suggestion that hasn't been mentioned on here (In my very most sarcastic tone. lol)...... NEW COLORS!!!!

Fender raising prices = another reason to build a warmoth jazz or buy a bass mods jazz

If you are bitching about higher prices for a Fender bass then get a Lull. They are much, much better and reasonably priced.

A) I disagree. Keeping prices high acts as a deterrent to potential purchasers. If anything, they should have a three month blowout, with all items (save custom shop and the like) being something like 20% off, to encourage sales - they did something like this over the last holiday season but only on squiers and only about 5-10% on selected models. They've already got the brand... They need to make the sales.

B) That, and stop skulking around forums, taking ideas from builders and creating these weird gargoyles that they've been calling the "pawn shop series". Those guitars are horrible and as far as I'm told at the shops I visit, they haven't been great sellers. They need a new R&D team that can help them create the next generation of Fender. They should probably just get the Fender Japan team to do it, since they've been kicking butt since the early nineties.
